First, U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz compared Microsoft's treatment of Sun to Tonya Harding's knee-capping attack on rival figure skater Nancy Kerrigan.

Then, a real deal of Ms Harding's latest development:

http://www.katu.com/sports/story.asp?ID=52737

Harding is under investigation for allegedly drinking alcohol, a violation of terms of her delayed prosecution for a drunk driving accident in April.

...
“fellow passengers observed her getting in shape for her upcoming bout by – what else? – drinking vodka. When after three of them, the flight attendant cut her off.”

Vodka, huh? I took her for a malt beer kinda gal.... smashing the empty on her forehead. Tonya, Tonya, puh-leez go see Dr. Phil.

This is really sad to see the self-destructive behavior continue. It almost makes me wonder if she doesn't subscribe to the "bad press is better than no press" school of self-promotion.

heavens, why dont they leave this girl alone? what's the big deal with drinking on a plane? i mean, drinking and driving is one thing, but tonya wasnt flying the plane!

and since when do flight attendants cut someone off after three drinks? when i flew back from DC after the thanksgiving holiday, i flew 1st class for the first time. drinks are free, and let me tell you, i had way more than three...and if it were up the the flight attendant ("can i get you anything else? another drink?"), i would have had many, many more!

Halo girl

duane- Tonya's drinking wouldn't have been a problem if she wasn't part of her delayed prosecution , which obviously isn't something she cares about since no drinking means not having any drinks. I'm also assuming that the fact that she got angry and there is an investigation means that she must have caused a scene. Considering all these people are stuck in a plane with no place to go, I could see why there would be a problem.

I KNEW it was only a matter of time before Tonya did something before her fight to turn the public eye back on herself, but I really thought she'd wait until closer to the time of the match to do anything. This girl must really need attention to keep making herself get such bad press and turning into a joke to (most) of the public.

 What Michael Jackson is to the word 'weird',Tonya Harding is to the term 'screw-up'!

This is utterly ridiculous. Who cares what this young lady is doing, keep out of her life and keep her out of ours. This is not newsworthy!

Flight attendants normally cut you off if you become publicly drunk. So... if they cut Ms. Harding off you can assume it was because she was not quietly holding up her $4 and asking for her drink (or just asking if she was in first class!).

Based on Tonya's prior history I would not think 3 drinks would put her over the top so it makes me wonder what she was doing before the flight!

perhaps. but at the same time, tonya is still considered the she-devil to many people. it's possible that the flight attendant wanted to get tonya angry, allowing her to report another "bad, evil, self-destructive tonya" story to the media.

like, read the link provided by marzurka girl. talk about a nonstory--and a suspicious one at that! the vehicle that tonya was a passenger in was stopped because it "appeared to be speeding". appeared to be speeding? well, was it speeding or not? did this officer not have his radar gun handy?

two unopened beer cans were found in the car, but this isnt illegal. so, no speeding tkt was issued, there was no suspicion of drunk driving, and there were no open beer cans in the car. still, the officer reported the incident because "a check of harding's drivers license showed that in order to operate her own vehicle, she is required to blow into a device that demonstrates she is not intoxicated". but again, tonya was the passenger in the vehicle--not the driver--so why was this incident reported...and why did it end up in the media?

again, leave the poor girl alone!

duane: (I will preface this by saying I'm not trying to intentionally be a smart-aleck): We'll be MORE than happy to leave the poor girl alone when she gets herself OUT of the public eye and decides to live a PRIVATE life away from her constant habit of seeking attention, be it positive or not. Until then, she's a public figure, she gets herself into these negative situations, she has to deal with them.

I'd be thrilled if Tonya would just go live her life anonymously, make a living and be happy. Unfortunately, she craves attention and wants to be a star--be that stardom negative or positive. Its really kind of sad.

This time about a girl who named her horse Tonya after Tonya Harding:

http://www.detnews.com/2002/metro/0212/13/d07w-34604.htm

Named "Anonymissy" in her first few weeks on the farm, Tonya got her nickname after she beat up "a fancy show horse," a Welsh pony whom Beth Kroll describes as "a fancy mover and snob."

Once named "Chuckles," the little snob is now called -- you guessed it -- Kerrigan. "I'm telling you, if Tonya were a person, she'd be a chain-smoking, tattooed, leather-wearing biker babe," Beth Kroll says.

What will they think of next? ;)

Found this one reading the paper too:

Jay Leno, on Tonya Harding's proposed appearance on the undercard of the Mike Tyson-Clifford Etienne fight Feb. 22: "I hate to see the image of boxing hurt by the sleaze of women's figure skating."

I agree that the reason Tonya makes news is that she is very public figure. For example she was on the flight back from Memphis because she was there to announce her Boxing debut!

However, the assumption about the flight attendant does not strike me as correct. Cutting her off would have gotten the flight attendant or Ms. Harding NO ATTENTION in the media if Ms. Harding had not then raised a stink!

oh, i'll admit to being the self-proclaimed "tonya protector", and that tonya likely caused a stink when cut off. ;)

and tho dealing with angry airline passengers is not uncommon for flight attendants, true, when the angry passenger is a tonya harding, it'll make news.

Leave the girl alone. If average anyone did the same thing we wouldnt hear about it. Drinking and driving is rampant in this country. People get in fights when drunk, kill others, hit and run, cause demestic violence, go to jail, and much more. We dont for the most part hear about them. leave her alone and tend to your life, which is perfect Im sure.

This judge! MS gets a slap on the finger and can continue its monopoly. Tonya has no place in the figure skating world anymore. Such great intelligence, such a great analogy 8O

the judge told the prosecutor "you are wasting the court's time".

exactly! this was a nonissue from the beginning.
