What a scathing review by John Doyle!! He calls Bourne and Kraatz's performance in Stars on Ice "staggeringly blatant in its sexual innuendo".

I get the Globe and Mail but didn't see that.

Those of you who don't read the Globe regularly should know that Doyle is the TV critic, and with few exceptions, he hates everything. He's particularly snotty about anything remotely commercial (news flash Doyle: ALL shows are filler for what TV is really about, and that's the commercials). The Letters to the Editor page frequently prints complaints about him, but I think they keep him because he's "controversial."

In other words, don't panic, he knows nothing and has little credibility.

But Jenny, watching people panic is the best part! :P Still can't find the review, though. Someone must have stolen that section of the paper.

Then this "person" hasn't seen much dance. I saw B&K and their sadeness routine and I was blown away with it. Guess someone forgot to tell this review that sex sells, whether we like it or not. Personally, I didn't find it erotic, sexy or anything else in that vein. What I thought was "WOW", where has this sizzle been during their competition?

8-)

he's obviously a writer of limited talent who's trying to be funny...

I hope everyone that has that section of the paper uses it properly. My suggestion would be to line their pet birds cage, cats litter box or find a dog that's paper trained!:P

Actually, I just sent a scathing letter to John Doyle and told him to stay off the ice since it's very slippery. Doubt I'll hear from him but it made me feel better.

his "don't get me started" got annoying after the 7th printing of the phrase. It didn't take long to realize this is one cranky old man.

If anyone here watches Royal Canadian Air Farce, it's rumored the Gilbert "I'm smarter than you are" Smythe Bite-Me character was actually based on this Globe and Mail columnist (since they're both TV critics who rarely have anything nice to say about anything on TV!) So I definitely wouldn't take anything this guy says too seriously! ;)

Madame wonders what would have been our dear columnist's reaction if SOI had been shown on.......The Women's Television Network...lol

This guy's an idiot and I definitely don't care a hoot what he has to say, but ... I do think he brings up a valid point when it comes to the discrepancy of the overt sexuality and the fact that this is supposed to be a "family show."

Now I have no problem with the sexuality -- obviously, sex sells, and I think that these women are very sexy. Nor would I have any problem bringing my own child to the show. And yes, it's pretty tame compared to some of the stuff kids are exposed to in movies, tv, and video games. But nonetheless, I do think that SOI might want to reconsider billing this as a family show.

As an aside ... has Gilbert Smythe Bite-Me done any reviews on Air Farce since WTN changed their name to W? Doesn't have quite the same comical edge to it. But a small part of me did wonder if the network name change had anything to do with Gilbert. ;)

LOL Ice Queen! :D

As for it no longer being billed as a "family show" I say, "Gimme a Break!" Kids see much worse when watching Britney Spears, Pink or other pop tarts on tv!

B&K's performance was sexy but it was not overtly sexual . I thought they rocked! I loved it!

Artemis, Air Farce did poke fun at the WTN name change, but I can't remember exactly what it was...I'm just glad this Globe and Mail critic didn't review Kurt's Gotta Skate show--which did air on the W network! ;)

Didn't mind the article, found parts of it remotely humorous. Certainly nothing to be upset about.
