View Full Version : Have we seen any 7 triple programs from a lady this season yet?

I don't recall any ladies landing any 7 triple programs yet this season, and what I find rather odd is that many of the top competitors (Kwan, Cohen, Hughes, Slutskaya) don't seem to have 7 triples planned anyway. From the layout of their programs, it seems like they're only attempting 6 triples.
I know it's still early in the season, but does anyone else find this unusual?

Miki Ando, JGP Montreal in late September! :) 3lutz-3loop, solo 3loop and 3lutz, 3flip, 3sal, 3toe. Quite a performance, and many in the audience rose to our feet afterwards. I don't recall offhand whether or not she repeated the 7-triple performance at the JGP in China one month later, however.
I guarantee you that both Michelle and Sarah's programs are laid out to contain 7 triples. Michelle wasn't ready at Skate America but from practice reports her goal is to have atleast one or both - 3z/3t and 3f/3t -she has been seen practicing these with varying degrees of success for the last few years and they make more sense than the 3z/3loop. I have heard no practice reports about Sarah but don't under estimate how much she wants that National crown to go with the Oly gold so I think 7 triples will be in her program. I also know from practice reports that Angela is planning 7 triples with a 3t/3t that she has been landing with varying degrees of success for atleast 2 seasons. So if it's 7 triples you want or the attempt at 7 triples I think by Nats you'll be satisfied and even more so by Worlds.

I have another question: How many 7 triple programs did we see skated last season? I don't mean planned, I mean executed? Maybe it is the end of that era?

The opposite could happen - by everyone attempting 7 triple programs at Nationals - quite a few could wipeout and not be anywhere near clean. Attempting 3/3s in practice is one thing, producing them as part of a 7 triple program is quite another.
I'm sure Sasha can relate to that all too well - given totally clean beautiful 3-lutz/3-toes in practice have not yet translated to one successful attempt out of 3 opportunities so far. Even the 3-toe/half-loop/3-sal that has been clean and beautifully done in practice and Campbell's wasn't to be seen in her 3 GP events.
I predict only 2 senior ladies this year will manage a 7 triple program this season - Sasha Cohen (practice makes perfect, she's loaded with a lot more experience and preparation this season than other US ladies) and Yoshie Onda (I thought Yoshie already had a 7 triple program? this season, but sure she's gotten 6 at least done already).
