I am doing some research, and I was wondering. Who is the youngest skater to land the triple axel jump?

My best guess is Yukari Nakano, did she land a ratified 3axel yet? It could also be Midori Ito, she was very young I think when she first landed it.

I thought on the television Terry Gannon say Yukari did land the triple axel. So that would mean she is youngest? It was a beautiful jump! :D

Ludmila Nelidina will turn 18 later this week. http://www.icecalc.de/isu/bios/isufs00004446.htm

How old was Midori Ito when she landed her first triple axel in competition? Tonya Harding?

The question wasn't asking about ladies only. ;) There have been several men who've landed them in their early teens--Plushenko comes to mind. He was 15 whe he won his first world medal and had 3Axels then.

I moved to Nagoya(where is the holy place of ladies triple Axel) due to my job.
I lost my password and registerd new account.

Japanese domestic competition version.

Ladies:
Mao ASADA landed triple Axel at Chubu block(regional) Oct 5.
She was 12years+1month.

Men:
Kosuke MORINAGA landed triple Axel at Novice National Oct 26.
He was 12years+9month.

-------

Midori ITO landed 1st triple Axel by Ladies in competition at Aichi prefecture championships Oct 1988.
She was 19years+2month.
Some people is misunderstanding this as qualyfier of nationals.

1st triple Axel by Ladies at international competition is 88/89 season NHK trophy.
1st triple Axel by Ladies at Nationals is 88/89 season Japanese nationals.
1st triple Axel by Ladies at Worlds is 1989 Worlds.
1st triple Axel by Ladies at Olympics is 1992 Olympics.

Some people is saying as "Midori ITO landed 1st triple Axel at 1989 Worlds and Tonya HARDING landed at 1991 US Nationals" is ridiculous.

Tonya HARDING is 1st ladies to land triple Axel as combination jump and in Short Program at 1991 Skate America.
It was ahead of Midori's 1991 Lalique(combination) and 91/92 season Japanese national(Short Program).

Strangely enough, still no ladies ever perform 8 triples program.

Plushenko landed two triple axels in his free skate to win the 1997 Junior World title at 14 years 1 month, so he was probably landing them in practice, if not in competition, at 13.

There have been some other 14-year-olds. E.g., Takeshi Honda in 1995-96 (who was also attempting but not landing two different quads), and I think some more recent kids.

Legally, under the current rules. Elaine Zayak certainly did so at least once (1980 and/or '81 U.S. Nationals, for instance) by including five triple toe loops and toe walleys, all from different entrances, but still not considered enough variety of skills. As I recall, when she won Worlds she only had 7 triples -- doubled a planned triple loop or salchow, although she did get in all her planned triple toes. :-)

Hence the Zayak rule.

Hasn't Bonaly or someone completed eight triples at least once by repeating three triples or doing three triple toes? Of course, in that case they wouldn't all count.

I do remember a time when Surya was reported to have done 8 triples, but it was really only 7. It was 1992 (?) Worlds in Minneapolis, and the announcers were (I'm reaching here...) Leamber Riley and maybe JoJo Starbuck? They were terrible 8-)
