"...the quadruple toe loop, the jump that has become a benchmark in men’s figure skating. It is also a skill that Buttle has yet to land in competition, and he is willing to sacrifice early-season results to gain consistency with the jump in front of the judges.

'The quad is absolutely necessary to be in the top five in the world,' he said. 'I’m putting a definite amount of pressure on myself to get the quad in the program at competitions… Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward.'"


I certainly hope that this strategy ends up working out for him in the end. He's so dynamic, I'd hate to see him struggle technically and be left behind.

but it's at his school's paper--of course it's going to be written by a student! :P I'm just happy that he's getting the recognition he deserves at his college, and that he's working on that quad!

This is why journalists to be go to school to become better journalists.... they have to start somewhere and I thought the article was very well done.
