I was told about a chat/file sharing program called Soulseek. It allows people to connect, meet up, and then browse each other's files. Its resume abilities also come in handy. Click here (http://www.slsk.org/) to go to the Soulseek website. Here are some basic instructions:
1. Upon first opening the program it'll ask for a user name and password. Put whatever you want in there but make sure you remember it if you need to reinstall the program at any point.
2. Once the program connects (when it's connected you'll see a green box on the left side on the menu, it's purple when you're not connected) go to the right side where there is a list of rooms. Click on the "Rooms" titlebar to alphabetize the list and look for the room titled "iceroom" and select it, right click, and choose join. If no one is in the room at that time you will need to create the room. Just right click inside that room list and choose create room. Then make sure you input "iceroom" (it's case sensitive so make sure you input iceroom correctly).
3. Once you're in the room, on the left side is a chat area. Right click in the part where what you type is shown and choose autojoin room. That way everytime you startup the program it will go into that room and you won't have to waste time finding it.
4. You can move around the different windows with the buttons at the top (web, transfers, iceroom). It's like the windows taskbar.
5. When someone shows up his or her screen name will be shown on the right side and you can select it, right click, and choose browse files to see what's being shared. You can configure what you share by going into the options menu and selecting file sharing configuration.
