I myself really miss Karyn Cadavy a lot, I haven't seen her skate on TV in ages. Same is true for Paul Wylie of course.

But more recently I will miss Berezhnaya/Sikharulidze and also Drobiazko/Vanagas from the amateur world. I just love their passion and truthfullness the skate with ON the ice.

For next season, I actually think B&S may do a GP event. Tamara said that they might.

I miss A&P already.

In the eligible ranks, S&P, without a doubt--pairs skating won't be nearly as exciting without them or B&S on the scene (although hopefully they'll be just as exciting to watch as pros!)

In the pro ranks, wayy too many skaters to list here, but my #1 pick would have to be Hough and Ladret for the simple reason that they had to retire just when they were at the peak of their pro career and had planned to skate at least another few years. :(

I lost track of Hough and Ladret so I'm totally out of the loop. Why did they have to retire? :?:

this topic makes me want to cry! :(

I'll miss Elvis and S/P. Also B/S. it'll be a lonely year at Canadians w/out S/P and Elvis.

Gotta say my fave, Elvis. I shed many tears watching his final Canadians and final Olympics. Since I started watching skating in '94 he has been a fixture at the amateur competitions it'll be so different watching them next year. :( :( :( :(

Without a doubt I miss Paul Wylie the most. No one else has quite what he had. :D

You have picked a gem! He was one of the best. However, we should really look forward to all the new skaters who are coming up. It is these skaters that keep the sport developing and exciting. I am glad that we get to see the new blood otherwise this sport would get boring!

Elvis definitely. There was always an added level of excitement in a competition when he was there. You just never knew what might happen!

I absolutely agree - the US (and Canada) have a great crop of up and coming skaters and it's always exciting to watch the Novice and Junior levels at Nationals to spot talent.

However, skating being a sport of such young competitors, the focus is often on what's new and hot. This can mean that skaters who have retired (particularly those that fall beneath 'superstar' status and go pro to skate in tours and events that aren't on television) can quickly be forgotten. Skating has such a rich history of styles and elements and remembering favorite past skaters is a great way to honor that and keep them current. Young skaters have a lot to learn from Paul Wylie, Scott Williams (who's still skating, but isn't often in high publicity events), Hough & Ladret, Shepherd Clarke (is he still skating?), and many others.

Just my thoughts.

The first one that comes to mind is B&S. As far as I'm concerned, no other pairs team out there right now can touch them, and I will sorely miss their quality of skating. I'll also miss A&P, because I love the way they look, their arrogance and flamboyance, their poses, their speed--I think Pasha spoiled me for nice, ordinary-folks ice dancers, and Angelika Krylova was the coup de grace (those eyes! 8O ).

[color=green:391ec66af7]I already miss Elvis and Todd :(
I miss Usova and Zhulin, too. Evgeny Platov is great, don't take me wrong, but I LOVED Usova and Zhulin's graceful skating.
I know I'll miss Michelle Kwan and Irina Slutskaya (and their great rivalry) when they finally decide to call it quits. I, for one, would love to see them stay eligible for decades  [/color:391ec66af7]

From the Amateur side I miss Bobek and Lipinski because they both made a splash and put excitment into the competition and you just never knew what was going to happen when these ladies were on the ice. I miss G&G when he was alive and they skated...........oh, it was something to behold this couple........they always had this chemistry on the ice. It just made you melt!

I also miss Kurt Browning. He was King of the Ice to me for so long. Nobody can skate like him.
