Sarah Hughes was taken off the performers list at Greensboro, due to injury. Anyone know what might be wrong with her?

I found the show to be more entertaining than I expected.
B&K did their Enigma program and it was excellent
A&P were there, which I didn't expect. Again an excellent performance with lots of energy. Naomi and Peter did Parisian Walkways, I just don't understand why the judges don't give them more credit.
In fact, I found the 4 ice dancing couples to be the best parts of the show.

Evgeny P did Carmen, Tim G didn't do American Pie which I was glad about and he's much smaller in stature than he looks on TV. Interesting skates Michael W. was wearing, I hadn't seen them before, cause I missed the televised COI.

I had on ice seats and was really amazed at the difference when you're almost looking the skaters in the eyes during the performance. You could definately tell better who was enjoying performing that day.
Nicole, looked a little bored as did Tim, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, long travel etc...

Michelle and Irina were very good, both had flawless performances.

It was mentioned on the MKF that she has a pulled muscle. I don't know how they know that, though. It was also mentioned that her prom was Saturday (last night) and that she mentioned in an interview that she wasn't sure how she'd get from NC to NY in time. There is specualtion that the injury may not be the truth, but there is no confirmation of anything like that yet. Hopefully, if she is injured, it isn't anything too bad.

Shoot!! I wish I could have gone to this show. I live about 30 min from G'boro. I was torn because B/S are not on the tour. And since I'm going to Germany in 2 days, I didn't want to spend the bucks. I'm glad it was a good show and I hope Sarah gets well soon. :)

Josef - There was a review from a show not too long ago on MKF that said that Nicole had a perfect program, a couple triple toes and a double axel. I was happy to hear this because this was the first show that I have read that she landed everything.

She was perfect at Louisville, KY on Wednesday night. I think she landed four jumps, but I may be off

Latest I've heard is something to do with her hip flexor?

I was at Greensboro COI, too, second row seats. I don't know what jumps Nicole landed, but I counted 3 of them. I agree she didn't look very into the program. I don't know if she was bored, tired, or just concentrating on getting the jumps landed. I didn't think Tim looked bored, though- more like scared to death. He was out of sync with the arm motions in the finale, and at one point looked around wildly like he wasn't sure if it was time to do the flying camel next, or not. He's very petite and adorable in person, though. Maybe he'll develop better showmanship in time.

I don't know what happened to Sarah. They announced she was injured, but I didn't hear any more details or rumors.

The highlight of the show for me was the ice dancers, too, especially A&P. They definitely put 100% into the program. I even enjoyed B&K a lot, and I normally don't care for them.

I always love Rudy, but wish Collins had let him do something different. I was glad it was something upbeat, though, since the last time I saw him skate was only a week or so after his HIV diagnosis was made public, when he did "Send in the Clowns", and I cried through the whole thing and half of the next person's number. So it was nice to be smiling instead of crying this time, and see him looking so energetic and happy.

Philippe's 'audience attack' number one took place about three seats down from me, one row ahead. He made a gray-haired older woman smack him on the behind twice. I could hear him telling her to do it, and the second time he was saying, "Harder!"

I loved K&D's number, and Irina S. and Pliush were also very good. I was surprised at the huge audience response Pliushy got. I remember a couple years ago when he was only getting lukewarm applause. I guess he's just starting to get recognition.

I'm disappointed by the large number of 'novelty' programs this year. I remember when Petrenko used to be so elegant, and now it seems like all he does is skate with puppets! I don't really mind the acrobatic acts, which are interesting in their own way, but I wish the other skaters would actually skate. I don't mind a little extra wiggling and dancing in place in a show setting, but don't care for a lot of gimmicks and props (with the exception of K&D's puppet strings, which were well integrated into the program.)

The only big splat of the night that I saw was Weiss, in the finale. The last look we got of him as the spotlight was going out, he was sliding on his butt.

And on a totally fluffy note, Polishchuk, the smaller guy in the acrobatic team, has somehow turned into a major hottie, and a Sasha Abt clone. He was standing right in front of me for part of the finale, and I was amazed. [Ok, I need a 'lecherous stare' emoticon, and there isn't one!]

Michelle's number had several ladies around me in tears. I thought it was very pretty and very nice, but it didn't make me cry. She got the only standing o of the show.

I too had on-ice seats for the GSO show - first row, almost center ice. I had a great time and it took hours for me to get my voice back (from screaming) and for my hands to stop being red (from clapping), though I thought that some skaters looked a little sloppy and was surprised that the ratio of fast-paced novelty numbers to 'serious skating' numbers was so high. The biggest surprise of the evening for me was that A&P were my absolute favorites (besides Michelle, but I expected that). I mean, I have appreciated A&P and viewed them as the best ice dancers this season, but I had no idea that they would blow me away live. It was impossible for me to take my eyes off of them - absolutely gripping.

They were also the closest to my side of the boards at several different points, including one point at which Gwendal was turned to the audience and away from Marina and gave us in the front row an amusing and flirty wink. He is even cuter in person.

Yes, Naomi and Peter looked very good - they had this joyful look about them the entire time, whereas Plushy, for instance, or Tim looked like they were half somewhere else.

It was pretty funny that M. Weiss was the only one to fall since he is my least favorite of the big-ticket skaters. His new skates are freaky, and the diagonal 'heel glide' (I have no idea what to call this) he did on them got lots of applause.

My mom was amused that the rabble-rousing 'all-American' number (finale) is performed primarily by Russians and some French, etc., with only a handful of actual Americans thrown in. I wonder if they think it's cheesy? I certainly did.

I loved that Naomi and Peter did two above-the-shoulder lifts during the finale, including one in which she ended up seated on his shoulder as he glided across the ice. "They don't usually get to do that!" I yelled at my mom, who was like "Wha?"

I think Plush started to gain some respect here in N.A. after Olympics. He took what should have been a devastating event and turned it into something positive. I know I was impressed after that horrific fall in the SP that he bounced back and sold the rest of that performance to the hilt. Then proceeded to wow everyone with the LP. I think this kid's got some real heart and people are finally starting to take notice.

Also, Plush came down with the flu in SLC. He was getting IV's but still made the exhibitions! I felt bad for him after the SP, that fall was such a shock.

I believe that if he got rid of Mishin, the mullet and those costumes, no one could stop him!

I saw Plushenko in both Philadelphia and in Atlantic City and he was terrific. He skated Carmen with so much authority, musicality, and artistry. The audience loved him and he really played to the crowd. I agree totally with dbell's last sentence.

Well, Pliushy's mullet was a lot less mullet-y than before. Definitely an improvement. I don't have a problem with the costumes, and I like Mishin.
