I really like the upbeat version of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" that Michelle Kwan is using this year. Does anybody know who's version this is, or what CD it might be on?

It's not from the movie soundtrack The Red Violin (I thought the same thing at first ;))....it's from an album by Ikuko Kawai called "The Red Violin."

I just checked with one of our local, major music sources (Silver Platters in Seattle). Ikuko Kawai's Red Violin CD is not being distributed in the US. When they heard that Michelle Kwan was using the music, they said if there was enough demand, it would likely become available. So for those of us who really enjoy this version of Concierto de Aranjuez, our choices are to take our chances by ordering it off the Japanese website (I converted the yen to dollars -- it would be about $24), or have all our friends and family call around to the music stores and create a demand. Silver Platters also suggested that I try Amazon.com's Japanese site.

Here it is on http://www.amazon.co.jp : http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005GVQW/ref=sr_aps_cm_/249-7212516-5744311

2,571, which is around $25, not unusual for Japanese CDs.

I couldn't find it on http://www.cdjapan.co.jp , so Amazon Japan is probably it if you want to buy the CD. However, their website is Japanese only, which complicates ordering if you can't read the language. (CDJapan's website is all English, but their shipping is usually higher.) Your Amazon U.S. account won't work, either--apparently you have to register with them. If anyone's interested, I've seen a guide to ordering from them somewhere and can try to find it again.

I just checked the Amazon Japan site (thanks for the link, Morgana!), and there is a button in the upper right that says "display in English" and when you click it, there is another button that says "help in English." So, I think it might work just fine!

Start ordering, everyone!!!
