Hi, I saw the show last night. I see someone has already done a review for the St Johns show, so I won't repeat what was the same. In Halifax, however, we did not have Sale & Pelletier or Josee Chouinard.
Our cast was Elvis(of course), Bereshnaya & Sikharulidze, Surya Bonaly, Tara Lipinski, Rudy Galindo, Jeffrey Buttle, Punsalan & Swallow, Liz Manley, Dan Hollander, Polishuck & Besedin, and Irina Grigorian.
The highlight for me, besides Elvis of course, was Jeffrey Buttle and Elena & Anton.
Buttle did 2 numbers, can't tell you names of songs. This guy has a real presence on the ice........he was amazing. Awesoem spins, strong jumps, and very good musicality. He tried two triple axels, but fell. I was impressed that he tried. All his other triples were bang on though and solid. Can't remember exactly what he did, but he did 2 beautiful 3 lutzes!!! My hubby is not the biggest skating fan, but when I asked him what his highlight of the show was he said "Buttle".
Elena & Anton.......WOW! I was so glad to see their Meditation program in person. They are absolute beauty and grace. This is a gorgeous program and their speed and flow is amazing. They did a good throw 3 loop in this program and sbs 2 toes. The thing i noticed is how quiet they are when they skate.....not a sound from their blades (as if they are floating across the ice). Their next number was "The Kid". This was charming and again..........beautiful to watch. I love Anton's expresion in this....he obviously likes the Charlie Chaplin type character and seemed to have fun out there. Elena fell on the throw 3 loop, but at least she went for the triple! Her hair is so nice put up like she wears it now. I just can't say enough about this team!!!
Punsalan & Swallow, Liz Manley, Dan Hollander, and Polischuk & Besedin did the same numbers as in St Johns so I won't repeat the review. Dan was great........so funny. And how does he jump in those outfits??? The Russian acrobats!!!! Wow, they are something else....another highlight for my hubby!
Rudy did only the sweet transvestite number that he did on St Johns...not the Colors of the wind one. He was great........and man he really looked good in the boustier and fish nets!!! He has so much eneregy!!
Surya Bonaly was a delight!!! She can still jump so well!! She was throwing out double axels, 3 toes and 3 salchows like they were nothing. And her back flip is secons to none. She skated to "March with me" the same music as Bourne & Kraatz used for their free dance in 2001. Nice program. The other piece of music I can't place....again nice solid program with excellent jumps!!
Tara skated twice...."Paint it Black" was first piece, she had an error on the first 3 salchow, but came back to do a 3 toe and another 3 salchow. Nice program, and she is a beautiful skater. The next program was a slower song...can't think of name......it was a beautiful, lyrical program. She looked like an angel out there. Did 2 axel and 2 toes and 2 salchow. No triples in this one....but she didn't need it.....program was lovely to watch.
Irina Grigorian was a skater I had never heard of. She skates while twirling hula hoops.....really quite an amazing feat. She did a 2 lutz while twirling 2 hula hoops around her waist........she also twirled a whole bunch of hoops at once....different and unique.....enjoyable program. Crowd got into it.
Elvis...............he did the same numbers as in St Johns. The slides that were described in previous post are actually hydroblading moves....fast and really low to the ice...very effective to the music. He brought the house down each time he came out. I know some people feel he needs to work on his show skating a bit....and maybe so, but his speed and fast footwok always get the crowd going. And when he jumps.........he is so strong! Spins are very fast, and you gotta love those arabians he does....10 in a row! His mom was introduced at our show....and lo and behold she was sitting in our section a few rows down! I love his energy and he really loves the crowd...that is so obvious.
All in all an enjoyable show and Yes he did say "see you all next year". I for one will definitely be there!

Did Tara really do a dbl axel in her program ? I haven't seen a 2axel from her since the Nagano Olympics.

In one week, I'll be seeing Elvis' in London. Two months ago, I wanted to tape my Canadian interpretive and give it to Elvis but now since I had surgery, I still can't jump so that's out of the question.

Anyone planning on giving some gifts to Elvis? I'm going to make him a new skate music cd. Just searching for music ideas. I've even asked Elvis online about music during the Canoe chat on Thursday but he was so vague. Elvis likes too many music choices.

Well, it is quite likely she did not....I may be mistaken. I didn't write anything down and was going from memory. She definitely did not do any triples in the second program. That I am sure of. Perhaps she did not do a 2axel. Sorry!
