It's been announced on the USFSA web site that Pittsburgh, PA will host the 2004 Skate America. Here's the link: http://www.usfsa.org/news/2002-03/pittsburg-04SA.htm
So this means Skate America will be held in Pennsylvania 2 years in a row - 2003 in the east and 2004 in the western part of the state.

I am totally shocked that they decided to return to Mellon Arena. I attended the last time that it was held there in 1994 when I lived in Pittsburgh. There were so many complaints by the competitors and officials about the arena and arrangements that they all threatened to boycott any event held there again.
I don't live in Pittsburgh any more, but I still attend events in the arena. They've made lots of improvements, but it is still fundementally an older facility. It is the oldest one still in use by a NHL team.
I'm excited since it will be be close and I know the area, but I hope that they will make the necessary changes to make 2004 a better experience.

Yes, YES, I get to go again. I'm from the Philadelphia area and already have hotel and tickets ordered for Reading. I was whining the other day about how skating comes close to me twice in the same year - Worlds and Skate America - and then it's years before I can go again. This is great news. The Civic Arena and I are old freinds.

Tickets went on sale following Skate America 2002. I'm not sure the actual date, but I think last Monday. All event tickets can be ordered by mail or fax.
