One more pairs bites the dust - both are looking for new partners.

I wonder if ther is a possibility that she would skate with Steve Hartsell?

Seems there are lots of splits this season - hopefully some of the people will join and make even better teams than before to represent the U.S. It would be nice to have a dance team that could make the World podium within the next few years. :)

Well, we'll see how Steve's current prospects turn out first. Personally, I think the Marcy Hinzmann possibility sounds like a really good idea if it works out. Besides, since I think Miller's injuries were the thing that kept M&W out of competition all this season, she's evidently had some long term physical problem. Anything that keeps a skater out of competition for a whole year is something that should be seriously considered when it comes to counting on their prospects for the future. Since I don't remember what the problem was, though, I don't know how likely it is to be an issue in the future.

Weiss probably won't have an easy time finding a new partner either. As much as people talk about how many girls in the U.S. are looking for partners right now, there are only so many who are actually strong enough skaters to compete at that level. I wish him (and Miller) the best of luck, though. I really admired their committment to the partnership and only wish things had worked out for them.

Sorry to hear about this. These teams have got to stop breaking up. What is in the food that we serve US pair and dance teams? They just can't seem to hang in there. I hope that this will be it for this year. Lets hope that Kalsevich/parchem, Inoue/Baldwin and Orscher/Lucash stay together so that the USA will have a future in this arena. These teams need much more time together if they are going to be competitive on the international scene. In the meantime, I hope the best for M/W!

There are so many new teams this season, some going Junior, with an eye towards being ready for 2006 and even 2010. Maybe some of the skaters and coaches are finally realizing the problems created by musical partners.

Who have you heard about by way of new Teams? I've heard Jacqueline Jiminez/ Ethan Burgess, and Mariel Miller/ Nathan Hess for sure, and rumors of Hinzman or Mayne with Hartsell and Kimmie Meissner rockne Brrubaker..... if you've got info I'd love to know!

A couple of years ago, Miller & Weiss were a team VERY committed to staying together in the long term--I believe 2010 was their goal. But it just doesn't work out sometimes. Considering all they went through this past year, keeping their partnership together this long was an accomplishment. It's nice if teams stick together, but if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. People always act as if a team is doing a bad thing when they split, but sometimes, it's the right choice.

As far as I know, Meissner and Brubaker had a tryout, but currently have no plans to pair up. Meissner is currently working on pair elements/tests under the coaching of Jonathon Hunt at the University of Delaware while also continuing to train in singles (Novice level).

Speaking of Jonathan Hunt, is he competing this year and is Jennifer Don his new partner? I have heard conflicting reports.

My friends at Simsbury tell me that Orscher/Lucash's coach, Vadim Numov (sp?)is working with a new Jr. Pair Team. I can't remember their names but I think one of the skaters is from Italy. Does anyone know about this? If this coach can do for this team what he is apparently doing with Orscher/Lucash maybe we will have a new exciting team to see this year. I think this team is Jr. level but I am not sure. Maybe Simsbury will become a Pair Team training Center!

Very interesting! Hadn't heard about this myself yet, but it's entirely possible. I know Naumov's student Cate Rigoulet has been looking for a new partner--she last competed at the national novice level--and I wonder if she might be one half of this new team. That would be great news. I'll have to ask around and see what I can find out.

Personally, any teams that emerge being coached by Naumov, I'm interested in seeing. I think he's going to have a tremendous future as a coach.

Yes, Jenny Don and Jonathon Hunt will indeed be skating as a pair next season. He is just helping other young skaters interested in pairs at his rink, and also keeping up his skills before Jenny arrives in Delaware.

I'm so glad that both Trillian and Haribobo joined us on this bulletin board. I truly love reading your post and was so sad that there was a possibility of loosing that link.

I think that Trillian is correct. Cate Rigoulet is, according to my sources, skating with a young guyfrom Italy. I don't know his name but was surprised to hear this because i thought she had a partner.

In fact, I was told that Orscher/Lucash and Cate and her partner are all in Moscow or St. Petersburg training for part of the spring. I find that very interesting as it is sort of a reversal of the trend of Russians coming to the USA to train. I would really like to know who this guy from Italy is..if any one knows please post it!

Orscher & Lucash are definitely there for a couple of weeks (I think they've already left), but I hadn't heard anything about Cate and her partner going along. Entirely possible, though. As for her having a partner, she was skating with Adam Backus but he was off the ice due to injury for several months in the fall and winter. Apparently he was forced to retire due to persistent back injuries, so Cate has been looking for a partner for some time. I'm glad to hear that this news involves her, since I think she has a lot of potential as a pairs skater.
