Katia in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue?

ok, this IS the New York Post, and they DO butcher her name, so who knows if it's true... I dunno what other issue these ladies would appear in, so it implies the swimsuit issue to me.

THE few male pre-season vacationers at La Luna in Grenada last week must have thought they'd died and gone to heaven when three gorgeous South American models - Yamila Diaz-Rahi, Michelle Alves and Fernanda Tavares - arrived with a photographer from Sports Illustrated. The lineup also included Russian figure skater Katarina Gordeva. The hotel hired six bodyguards to keep horny locals away as the girls posed in tiny bikinis. Their last night was spent drinking tequila until 4 a.m. 8O

Uh, Katia's cute, but she definitely doesn't strike me as the SI Swimsuit Issue type LOL...maybe they got her confused with Katarina Witt? ;)

I think Steffi Graf appeared in it a few years ago.

I suspect it is Katarina Witt, but we'll see.

I'll bet you're right. This definitely doesn't sound like a Katarina Gordeeva thing.

In an effort to make it legit for a sports magazine (not my logic, theirs), SI has had several female athletes pose in their swimsuits, (and a few male athletes). I remember Nikki McCray from the Washington Mystics (don't know who she plays for now) and some soccer players.

I do think Steffi was the first, though.

It doesn't sound like a Katia thing, and it's not something I would do either. BUT if I was a 2 time mommy and someone asked me, I would have a hard time saying no regardless ;)

Maybe it's just me, but I'd consider Gordeeva more likely than Witt--though I'd imagine she'd be wearing one of the more modest suits. :)
