Does anyone know if the Ice-Dancers are still scheduled to be in the Sears Canadian Open? Boune says they're not listed. Thanks.

Nope, as far as I know, there's no dance event at Canadian Open this year--the last time there was a dance event at this competition was 1999, if I remember correctly.

Did they ban Dance?

No...I just think they've had trouble finding enough dancers willing to take part...

Another reason why ice dance has rarely been a part of pro-am competitions lately is that the ice dancers are required to skate an OD (or a dance with very similar rules to an OD--same rhythm, etc.) for their first program. It sounds like very few ice dancers (especially pro dance teams who haven't competed in front of ISU judges for years) are willing to compete at a pro-am with such restrictive rules. I think the rules for the interpretive dance at ISU pro-ams are also more restrictive than they used to be in traditional pro competitions...

OD? Please explain? What does that mean? Are you saying it's hard because Ice-Dancers are required to do do it, and they don't want to have to be bothered with it? Am I understanding right?

Put simply, the pro-am format is different than the eligible format. The pro don't want to have to bother putting together an OD that they'll only use once or twice, and the eligibles don't have time to focus on things that they aren't going to use in competition. Besides, the dancers just don't have the marketability that the ladies do.
