i completely agree bonghodog!!!!! i thought the exact same thing as i watched the clip from campbells', if she skated that program with every element - there is no doubt in my mind that it would be unbeatable at worlds. it works so well with her skating, it seems to keep her calm and has awesome highlights. im not a huge sasha fan or anything but if she skates that program clean at worlds this year i am sure that she will win.

I agree...so far, from what I've seen, this is the "class" program among the ladies.
I was a bit afraid of the idea of such an elegant, inherently lyrical skater skating to such rythemically strong music, but Sasha's skating is so very powerful athletically, yet so nuanced as to each and every element, that it totally works, and is seamless.
I think the music (Rach) highlights Sasha's athleticism, yet gives her own personal "color" prominence as well...I was a bit worried about that, but it works because Sasha is also so very musical.
When I saw her skate it live, I just immediately thought, "Every move she makes, every breath she takes..." characterized our incredible Sasha Cohen. What a SKATER!
As a fan of Rachmaninoff, I was quite happy to hear she was skating to this music. This particular piece is lovely, and she has done it justice ! It's a beautiful program, even the footwork which I know some didn't like, I felt was appropriate.
Looking forward to seeing this progam develope over the season.

While I am not wild about her personality at times, her new program is spectacular IMO. I really feel if she can start skating clean LP's, she will be a force to reckon with. Her jump sequence I thought was wonderful ... and the footwork at the end pretty impressive. My personal hope for Sasha would be to stop talking about what she's going to do, and instead ... just go out and do it! I haven't heard much talk from her lately, so maybe TT has already made this adjustment. I hope so because this young lady has a very bright future.
I've read that Sasha is landing the 3toe/3toe/2toe. Does anyone know if there is truth to this? Good for her if she is, and if she can get it consistent. (along with the triple sequence that she completed so wonderfully at Campbells....probably the best I've ever seen from a female skater)

That was posted by someone on the Alexei Yagudin Discussion Group, and yes it is true. However, I don't think she will try it in her program. It would mess up both other possible combinations - the 3toe/.5loop/3salchow (which has been landed cleanly 2 times in two different events this season already) and the 3 lutz/3toe. If she did a 3toe/3toe/2toe she could not repeat the toe in any of the before combinations/sequences. I am thinking it may help her get consistency or something along those lines?

I believe the report said 3-toe/3-toe/2-loop. ;)

These are exciting combos, and the one at Campbells looked very very strong, especially considering that it is early in the season. It will be good to see them at SC.

:D This new LP, the more I watch it the more convinced I am that it will become Sasha's trademark long program(one that will be talked about for years). I've read about how some people on the internet feel this LP's editing is choppy(it isn't), anyone who whips out Rach. #2 & listens to it can "hear" that(lol). I suspect that when Skate Canada airs, this LP will be considered the best of the season (bravo, TT).:D

I have seen Sasha skate many time since the first time I saw her skate...at the 1998 Nationals [when she was a Novice]. And If I had never seen her skate I would think that her new long program was a masterpiece. However, I think Tarasova took everything that was "Sasha" put everything in "Alexei." I was hoping that Tarasova would take the great things about Sasha and make them better, and she did that to somethings. I noticed better speed and slightly deeper edges. But also that her program was very un-Sasha. And at times in a skaters career that is a good thing, to try something new, but I just feel Tarasova turned her into a female version of Yagudin.
Heres a thought...Cohen & Yagudin for Gold, 2006 Olympic pair Champions.
All in all a beautiful program, but not was I was hoping for :(
maybe I can't explain this well, but you know the footwork section of her free skate? I think she should swap the very beginning steps (she does toe steps and throws her head back 3x) with the running steps in the second 1/2 of the footwork sequence. I think it would be more impressive if she got the speed of the footwork going first, then dazzled w/style. just a thought.
