I can't find any news on results. Didn't it start yesterday? :?:

It did start yesterday with the Compulsory Dance, but the results aren't posted anywhere as far as I know. A poster Daphne on FSU is reporting that Humphreys/Baranov are 1st after the CDs, with Nussear/Gates in 2nd. No other results yet. :??

Wow, I hope that report is true--how great for Nussear & Gates if it is! :)

Since Daphne on FSU is the Daphne from ice-dance.com, which does the Nussear and Gates website, I would consider her a reliable source.

Yay for Emilie and Mat!

1 Miriam MANZANO AUS 0.5 (this would be a huge win for her)

You sound surprised.-she is the Australian national champion and came 16th in the Worlds where I was told she did not skate her best. It's good to see the Aussie girls having some success.

MEN FINAL RESULTS are up on the site!

GOLD: TIMCHENKO
SILVER: DAMBIER
BRONZE: ZIVANOVIC

Ryan Bradley gets 4th overall, but was 3rd in the free. I have a feeling he hit a triple axel-- quite a triumph to defeat a former U.S. silver medalist, if only in the freeskate...I hope this is enough to convince the USFSA to give him a spot on the Grand Prix, and possibly a bye through sectionals along with it. Congrats Ryan! :) WHEEE!

Rohene finishes 8th btw, though we know he is capable of better, this is not so bad considering he barely has any international experience. Hopefully he can build on this for the future. You've gotta start somewhere, and this isn't a bad start.

Yeah for Miriam too. Excellent result.

Good to see Maniachenko up there too. IIRC I thought she should have gotten at least third at the Europeans Splat fest this year too so great to see her with a good result.

Nice start for Nussear/Gates. I was also lucky enough to see their FD about three weeks ago -- very nice, fast, expressive, WITH lots of two-foot skating. I hope they don't fall into that Tarasova mindset of speed, speed speed and forget the dancing part. Also, with Matt being so short, their twizzels were nice but he had no leverage and they really didn't have much face-to-face skating. But then, I'm sure their coaches no better than me!!!! Overall, I'd say fifth at Nationals.

As for Vienna Cup, I'm just getting back into world level competitor names but this appears to be a very weak field. While I do hope they do well, I wouldn't place a lot of stock in a win although it will be a great confidence boost.

As a former novice ice dancer, by comparison, if you want my view since I see Gibbons/Pekarek three times a week in Maryland (my daughter is in basic skills at their training rink), Gib/Pek's FD, a tango, is as fast, is more difficult with hand holds, has more flow (which is a choreography issue) and has a much more expressive look and feel. Nussear/Gates is raw speed and they are fast!! However, given the OD pressure to be more "ballroom" like, and expressive, I would vote for Gib/Pek. Justin is such a great dancer and I am really impressed with how Liz and Genrikh have molded Hillary. She's the real deal and this couple will impress many at Nationals. In fact, IMO, they will be fourth and could well take third.

Man, having read the reviews of the ladies FS, I am concerned about Amber Czisny. I hope this injury isn't going to plague her right up to the end of her skating career. :( Hopefully this wasn't something that was too bad.

I am glad to hear that Kelsey is her usual powerful self, even if the program just wasn't there that day!

Whoops I got so spoiled by being used to your posting of the review link here that I jumped the gun and assumed you'd already done it! I guess my post didn't make sense. Thank you for getting these reviews to us and spreading them around for discussion! :)

You're welcome, KBW, but we should all thank Karin in Vienna for being our sole Internet reporter on the competition (so far, anyway). Here's the link to Karin's final (brief) free dance and exhibition report:
