I read on one of Kurt's sites that Orser will likely NOT be in CSOI for 02-03.

Can someone, I'm hoping, say that this is wrong!?!?

It's not on his schedule for this season - see the site below for details of events he is confirmed for:Hooloovoo's Brian Orser site (http://www.canadianexcellence.com/schedule.html)

AT the last show (Vancouver) of CSOI last year, they had a little farewell at the end for Brian and announced that he would not be continuing with CSOI. You can however see him on the Elvis Tour this November.

Thank you! Even though I didn't get the answer I wanted :(

Brian was my first favourite skater, and I'm dreading the day he retires!

Brian will still be in Skate the Nation and does the choreography for that show.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but according to the STN web site, there will be no 2002-2003 tour.

Nan :(

That's Odd because I was just reading International Figure Skating Magzine just the other day (with B&K on the cover) and there was a little write up about Brian Orser, what he is doing and basically according to the article, Brian said that the reason why he didn't want to have a huge "FAREWELL GOODBYE" at SOI last year in Vancouver, is because he feels that he might return in the future. The option of that is still there. But right now he is focused on the Skate The Nation Tour (talked about how its "his baby") and mentioned that things were already being talked about for next years tour. It also DID say that the STN Tour didn't quite do extreamly well in "sales" on the West Coast however during the East Coast tour (mainly in Ontario) sales were extreamly well.

I can't possibly keep up with all the acronyms and shows you all are talking about but I do know Brian just spent a week in our rink having a new program choreagraphed by a former canadian ice dance champion.

He is in great shape and skating well!:D

chattykathy let me try to help you out.

SOI ~ Stars On Ice - tour that runs in the USA and Canada. Started by Scott Hamilton many years ago.

STN ~ Skate The Nation - tour that started way way back in 1994 actually and toured across Canada in "small cities" shortly after the Stars On Ice Tour finished in Canada. The cast just included Canadian Skaters. The tour stopped back in 1998 actually and never returned. Was too hard on the skaters, touring so much etc... Up until 2000 Brian Orser decided he wanted to bring the tour back ... and so he did. Now just touring in Ontario - featuring not only Canadian skaters as well as the top figure skating champions in the World.

So I hope that helps ya out in a nutshell.

Blades1, I was just going to post that! Mind you, IFS is often very out of date in their info, but it sure sounds like he's planning a 2003 tour.

Here's the article.

(BTW, the pic of Shae and Vic in that issue is fabulous! There's a head-and-shoulders version at the web site, but a full body one in the mag.)

One more thing for chattykathy: if you can get your hands on the videos of the 93 or 94 STN tours (back when they were called Eatons Skate the Nation), these are must-sees. They're the best behind-the-scenes skating stuff I've ever seen, and really give you an idea of the work involved in a tour like this.

I'm really starting to wonder if there will indeed be a STN Tour this year. If my memory serves me corrently, they started to sell tickets for STN last year at this time. And there hasn't been any mention about any sort of tour this year. And it does say on the Official Website that they will not be touring for the 2002-2003 season which quite frankly has me disapointed if this is the case ......

I was rather excited when I read that article about Brian Orser making plans to continue to do the tour ......

Unfortunately the Skate the Nation website indicates that there will be no tour in 2003. Check it out for yourself at

Skate the Nation (http://www.skatethenation.ca/)
