21 Ryan BRADLEY USA 56.10

Some interesting results, and the top 3 are close enough that it could be anyone's game in the LP.
I can't for the life of me picture Michal Brezina ...

He basically popped all his jumps. He got a 16.90 for elements -- yoiks! And that's without any falls! He was given a gift of 33.35 for components, but it's moot since only the top 24 advance.

oh wow. that was just surprising after a (relatively) strong performance at the olympics.

Except for Chan, everyone's about where I expected.
What happens to Abbot? Does he cross the US borders and get a panic attack?

I was just thinking that Abbott might be injured? Is he young enough to still be growing?

Abbott skated clean. He was a bit forward on landing of the axel but that's about it...

How did Brezina do? I like his skating. His expression is a little unformed, and I could wish for a little more footwork, but there's potential there for something exciting.
PS I don't have cable.

Is anyone else really disappointed with the camera work for Worlds so far? They keep zooming in on blades in the middle of spins and missing the position, I was particularly upset that Denis Tens biellmann was cut for a blade shot.

Absolutely!!!! I couldn't watch the skating for long because the camera work was so bad.....I think that the Italian host broadcaster must have hired a spagetti western director to call the shots in the control room, and he/she obviously has no knowledge of figure skating. Trying to analyze footwork sequences when the camera kept cutting to the spinning blade and then a high shot or tight frame shot of the skater - meant that you didn't have a clue if all the rotations were there for the bullet or if edges were deep and turns well done for the levels. And the cutting to different camera angles was really inappropriately timed - not at all in tune with the skater and the program.
Events like this usually have a host broadcaster from the host country, who then distributes the natural sound feed (music and skater but no commentary) to the international broadcasters so they can repackage the video with their own commentators. However, the host country hires their own director who calls the camera shots and angles during the feed - and that is what is so screwed up at Worlds.......and there is nothing the American or Canadian television broadcasters can do about it because they don't have their own huge camera operation in Turin.

Glad I wasnt the only one who noticed the weird camera zooming going on during their performances.. there was also random cutting to audience members right before a skater was set to compete.. Jeremy Abbott if I am not mistaken.
Also very disappointed in the Canadian commentary.. They were calling things in the pair short program before they had even happened.. like Anabelle's triple twist, Robin's doubling of the planned triple toe... They also even got Takahiko's age wrong.. Something really needs to be done. :frus:
