Say,do we know anything about the 1940's Pair Team of Eva Pawlik and Rudi Seeliger? I read about them in an issue of IFS. and was just wondering if they still skate,if there are any pics on-line of them from when they skated. Their competitive record, etc. Does anyone know? Thanks. BTW. does anyone also know if the last name format for Teams was used back then? In which case they would be...Pawlik/Seeliger.

They both died in 1983, he from a heart attack and she 4 months later from another illness. Think about it though, even not knowing anything about them, if they were around 20 in the 40's, they'd be at least in their 80's now, maybe their 90's. It's pretty unlikely they'd still be skating, at least in public!

Eva Pawlik was apparently a singles and pairs skater and was supposed to skate in both events in the 1940 Olympics, but couldn't because she was Austrian and it was during WWII.

here are two videos of them skating in 1956:

here's one of Eva Pawlik in 1960:

Have you ever used google FSWer? I'd never heard of these skaters, but I found all this info and more, plus lots of pictures, in about 5 minutes. Type their names into google and click "images" at the top of the page and you'll get plenty of pictures.

It's funny too that there's no record of them on the Pairs on Ice website. As the photos go all the way back to 1932. BTW. were they paired up by a coach,a Brother/Sister Team,or Husband/Wife?

I had never heard of these skaters, but was impressed by their vids. I love the headbanger variant released into a camel. Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
