I am so proud of myself! With very little help, I managed to put together my very first figure skating dress! I am not an experienced sewer by any means and there were moments when I was very frustrated, but I did it! I am confident that with some experience, I will be able to make competition worthy dresses for my daughter. I am getting ready to sew another dress and I am confident this dress will turn out better then the last dress.

Dd loves her new dress and we've recieved compliments on it too. :) http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/36648 This is the pattern I used. I made her the pink dress(different fabric of coarse!). I am getting ready to make the blue dress on the right. :)

I attempted a dress one other time, but stopped when it looked like the bodice would be too short for her. The bodice on this dress started to look short too but once it was put together, it fit! That said, I am making a few adjustments to the bodice of the new dress. I want the skirt to sit a little lower this time. :)

Anyway, I thought I would share!

THats fabulous. I like the neck line.

I made a practice ice dance dress for my daughter but got e sizing horribly wrong so its way too big. I really struggled with the waist /skirt when I sewed them to the knickers, and might well need to get somebody to sew it in again for me. It kept bunching up and does not look even!
I admire anybody who learns to sew!

I am actually surprised it went together like it did! I have the other dress nearly finished now. I had some problems with the hem, but I have come up with a possible solution and talked to another mom at the rink who makes her daughter's dresses. I am thinking I may use this dress for her solo in the spring show. It all depends on the music... :)
