The REVISED US Mens team for Worlds is this:
2010 U.S. World Men's Figure Skating Team
Jeremy Abbott
Ryan Bradley
Adam Rippon
Last Alternate - Brandon Mroz
Withdrawn:
Evan Lysacek will not be competing at 2010 Worlds, due to Stars On Ice and Dancing With The Stars commitments
Johnny Weir will not be competing either, so Adam Rippon will take his spot.
If Lysacek drops out to fulfill his Stars on Ice contract, we might get to see Ryan Bradley. In any case, I hope Johnny kicks Plushy's butt at Worlds. (What can I say? I'm a dreamer.)

Lysacek has decided to skip worlds:

Ryan mouthed his goodbyes in the K&C at nationals, think he wants to go to Worlds? It would be fantastic if he went out like Tonia K did at '98 Worlds.

Yippe for Ryan Bradley :D. It's not too shabby a consolation prize for missing the Olympics. There'll be a new World Champion this year, or at least a repeated champion if Plushy decides to compete.

Lysacek has decided to skip worlds:
http://www.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100225&content_id=8137406&vkey=ice_news A coach at my rink is very friendly with Ryan. She said he would go if a spot opened up for Worlds. I didn't see her last night, SHE must be thrilled for him.
YAY RYAN!!!! I am so excited for his getting this opportunity. While I'm sure Lysacek didn't step out for Ryan's benefit, it was a classy thing to do so far in advance. It'll help Ryan prepare and psych himself up for the competition. I'd love to see him win, he's such a nice guy. (Met him this summer when he was a guest coach.)
I want to see Jeremy Abbott do really, really well. He's definitely got it in him, he's well-trained, and has competitive programs.
Johnny is Johnny. He's a wonderful skater and he was tuning up his quad for the Olympics, even though he didn't put it in. I hope he puts it in at Worlds and gets a good score.
I'm so psyched for this event!

I read this morning that Ashley Wagner withdrew from Junior Worlds to focus on her senior-level programs. She's an alternate to the US team, hoping to get called up. I guess she really wants to be ready to skate at the big show.
2010 U.S. World Ladies Figure Skating Team
Rachael Flatt
Mirai Nagasu
Alternate No. 1 - Ashley Wagner
Alternate No. 2 - Sasha Cohen
Alternate No. 3 - Bebe Liang
I wonder which, if either, of the named skaters would withdraw? Hmmmm...

I don't think either will be withdrawing, unless there is an injury.
I read that Ashley wasn't adapting well to the junior program. I wonder if the short program requires a jump she doesn't normally do? I think that, having been to junior world's twice, not winning would be a little embarassing, so if she isn't 100% happy with her training, withdrawing makes sense. Lots of skating fans are happy with her for doing it - to let the "younger skaters" or "true juniors" have a chance. (The junior level vs junior age thing is a huge pet peeve of mine. What usa calls junior is not the same as what international is called junior!!!) So she's getting a bit of good PR for withdrawing, rather than the normal second guessing.
I don't think she expects to go to World's, but I'm glad to hear she is training like she might. It's always worse when they figure no one will ever withdraw, stop training, and then aren't ready!

She does seem like the planning and prepared type, so good for her!
I hope none of the skaters have an injury. If there was a conflict, they would have already withdrawn, I would think.
Hopeful planning shows committment.

Is Johnny Wier still going to Worlds? Given the number of interviews he's doing he's apparently not practicing.

Update: Weir's not skating at Worlds

Adam Rippon's taking Johnny's spot.
That's a pretty strong lineup: Abbott, Bradley and Rippon.
I wish Mroz had a chance.

I've seen rumors that Bradley is injuried (or rumors that bradley is rumored to be injured?). Mroz might have a chance...
But I hope Bradley gets to go.

Hmm, might the U.S. men be in danger of losing 3 spots for 2011 Worlds? Abbott has yet proven himself to be a consistent skater. Who knows which Abbott will show up in Torino. Not sure how high Bradley will finish. Didn't he finished below 10th place in his last Worlds? And then there's Rippon who's competing in his first senior world and is unlikely to make a big splash there. The USFSA better keeps its fingers crossed.

I hope World's goes better than Junior World's. I don't think the US lost any spots, but they also didn't get the medals I think they expected... (with the ladies freeskate yet to go)

So the U.S. men team might now be Abott, Mroz and Rippon? Good Lord. Come back Wier and Lysachek!

North American skaters often skate worse in Europe. I don`t know why. Time difference, jet lag, not enough support as at home. But it is not really important this year. I agree that, except in ice-dancing, the main battle for medals will be between Asian and European skaters.

Can't wait for this event to start.
Plushenko's on the ISU starting lineup, so I think he's going to skate. Without Lysacek putting pressure on him to skate well, it's up to Daisuke to do well and challenge him.

Interesting...I hope his alternate has been training - it's sort of last-minute.
It's Daisuke vs. everyone else. We might get the US podium spots we need for next year.
AHHH! I'm in heaven - Alban Preubert is skating for France. I've been a fan since seeing his Addams Family program.
I hope he does really well.

Plushenkos's withdrawal is interesting and definitely good news for Takahashi!
Hoping US/Canadian men will step up to challenge and hopefully everyone will skate great- also Oda of course. Joubert? I think his time is over, unfortunately.
Looking forward to the dance event - hoping Merle and Charlie win of course but I re-watched Tessa and Scotts free dance twice yesterday and was completely captivated and mesmerized each time - so beautiful the way they relate to each other. It is like you are sharing in someone's very beautiful love.

Wow, what a wide-open field this is now. Chan, any of the American guys, any of the Japanese guys (not just Daisuke), Van der Perren, Ponsero, Lindemann ... any of these guys could be on the podium. Heck, even Joubert might make the podium in this field.

If he isn't head-over-heels in love with her, Hollywood should take notice of him. There's just pure adoration in the way he looks at her. He'd be a great romantic movie lead actor.

Yes he is. Just read the article about it on icenetwork.com. Something about his doctor advising him to take two weeks off of skating due to the lagging knee problems he has...

God, I hope Chan doesn't win next week. His ego will explode if he does.
I'll send my luck to Joubert to redeem himself.

I often think they should just cancel Worlds in an Olympic year because most of the top contenders don't go......but on the other hand, it gives such a great opportunity for the up & comers to stake a claim on the next 4 years.

It gave Kimmie Meissner her one any only chance of medalling at Worlds and a gold medal at that!
