Great article in Parade Magazine today by writer Sally Jenkins.

My favorite line was: "How many athletes do you know who can perform a triple jump and land on a kitchen knife?"

The Parade.com website has several classic figure skating performances on video as well:

you beat me to that line! I thought the article was well-written, although the typical performances were chosen.

I was just thinking the same thing - they picked the "safe" moments: Torvill & Dean, Katerina Witt, Brian Boitano, Sarah Hughes, and Gordeeva & Grinkov. But they focused on Olympic Gold medalists.

I think Zhang & Zhang's throw quad that slammed her to the ice like she'd been body-checked was inspiring. Talk about courage: to get back up and finish with a Silver - incredible.

I hope we see some inspiring performances this year too.
