The boots are a mess, so I had the blades taken off. They are in really good shape and I'd like to get something for them. Any suggestions on websites etc?

Start with your local pro shop - some will take used equipment on consignment.

The skating clubs sometimes have "Skate Swaps" where people consign skates, blades, and dresses. Ask if one is coming up.

Some rinks allow you to post a flyer on their bulletin board, but ask first.

There's a "Skate Exchange" but I've never had any luck buying/selling on there. I don't think enough people know about it.

Ryan Jahnke is starting a new website that's scheduled to launch in March 2010 for this purpose. http://www.myskatingmall.com

There's always our own Trading Post forum.

Or eBay, Craigslist, etc.

Thanks, I didn't even know about the trading post. I will try craiglist and ebay too.

Whoever you are buying the new ones from is a good place to start. Also, Rainbo has a huge selection of resale and may buy them from you.

I've been buying and selling skates on Ebay for a years and it's great... The most important thing in to make your listing as detailed as possible, ie if you're selling take the insole out and measure it down to the mm length and width. Also measure the outer sole length and width. Take lots of pics and set your price. Only takes about five minutes to do a listing :) Really a much better choice than doing a consignment where you lose half of your sale price! Pro shops typically won't carry or have anything to do with anything used because it's a conflict of interest (If people can buy used equiptment they might be much less likely to buy the new inventory that they're trying to move) Anyway...good luck to you! :)
