Hi I used to skate age 5-14 then had to stop. I am starting again, but have tendionitis in both knees from skating. How do I cure this?

You'll want to talk to a doctor or physical therapist about this.
For me, the tendonitis will never go away. I've had it in my ankles for 15 years and in the past few years developped it in my knees, shoulders, and I suspect- but have not been diagnosed- my hips.
I can't cure it, but I know the things that trigger it. Due to my ankles, I've had to give up things like ballet and running (I hated running though, so that was okay). The linear motion is a trigger. For my knees, if I feel them flairing up, I have a band that my PT recommended that puts pressure on the tendon to help prevent the flair up, and alleviate the pain. (They sell them in supermarkets for "jumpers knee")
And of course, when the flair ups do happen, rest, ice, compression, elevation all help to get them back to normal. I try not to take pain killers unless it's unbearable.

Hi.
Tendonitis in the knees can be caused by many problems: flat or too-arched feet, weakness in certain muscle groups, flexibility imbalances, ill-fitting boots, etc. If it is bilateral, it probably a combination of several things, causing biomechanical alignment issues in your legs. See a PT. PM me with your email address; I have an injury report written about the topic that I'll send you.
