She did it on the belt and then several times off the belt! It was not cheated this time either. She is sooooo happy! She is so proud of herself and so she should be! YAY!!! What a HUGE accomplishment. :)

Congratulations!! That was really quick, too. Seems like you just posted about her starting work on it.
My daughter took a long time to land her axel--at least 4 months and then promptly lost it for another 4 frustrating months. It seems like the doubles come much easier. At least in the beginning. Maybe because the basic single jumps are already there, but an Axel is just a big step up.

Well done your DD! (Or "Great job" as they say in the US - same sentiment, different words!).

It was quick! She landed the cheated one only after practicing it a few times. Then yesterday, she landed it only about 2 months after she started to work on it! Plus, she hasn't really worked on them at all since before Christmas! They've been working on her programs for the last few weeks. Her jumps and spins were pretty much spot on yesterday and I knew as soon as her coach took her over to the belt that she was going to work on her axel! Then I watched as she landed some in the belt. When her coach took the belt off, I figured they were done with axel practice for the day. THEN I watched as dd set her axel up and tried to land it. Another mom and I were watching as she came SOOOO close. Then she did it! I knew as soon as her coached high fived her and another skating friend hugged her, that she had indeed landed it! I then watched as she did it again and again. It was thrilling really! So, now begins the hard work of getting it consistant and being able to doing while moving(eek!!)! I think the goal of pre-pre in June/July is attainable now! Yesterday was a GREAT skating day! She had good spins too. Her camel spin was beautiful and her sit spin was lower and fairly centered most of the time. Of coarse, I did not capture any of this on video! I had the video camera in my purse too! Oh well. :) I'm really hoping she successfully lands a couple more axels tomorrow too. I'd like to see her get her confidance up some before it goes awol! HEE!
Thanks for the replies. We are very happy here!
edited to add: she skated on Friday and manage to land them again! She was fairly consistant too! She didn't land every one, but did land about 3 in a row. She fell pleanty too, but we are so stinking proud of her! Now because she has landed her axel, she gets to skate a solo for her clubs ice show in May! :) I was worried that she would have to be proficient at landing them in order to skate a solo but I was told as long as she has landed it, she can skate a solo! YAY!!!
