Just received an email from Stars on Ice:

Happy New Year! We hope you've been enjoying the holiday season.

This is just a reminder to start the new year with a special presentation of Smucker's Stars on Ice hosted by Kristi Yamaguchi on Sunday, January 3 from 4-6pm local time on NBC. The show will feature insights into the 2010 tour, skater interviews and an exclusive preview of the 2010 Vancouver Games that you won't want to miss!

Great seats are still available for the 2010 Tour which kicks off on April 1, so visit www.starsonice.com (http://www.starsonice.com) and order yours today. And don't forget to join the Stars on Ice Fan Club to meet a skater at the show!

We'll see you soon!

I watched, and was hugely disappointed. There were no "insights," no "exclusive previews." Just a whole lot of talk & puff with barely any skating. The only actual SOI skating shown was from years ago. The only current skating footage was from last year's Worlds. Basically, a 2 hour commercial to get you to buy tickets to the show. :frus:

It was like an infomercial, wasn't it? I was disappointed as well.

It was a total look back and infomercial, but I liked it anyway!

Since the show has changed formats they didn't do their usual Lake Placid opening over Thanksgiving weekend and I'm guessing they won't even go into rehersals for the new show until at least after the Olympics which would explain why there wasn't any "new footage" (you can't show what you don't got) - of course they could have explained this rather than all of that other blather, but whatever...

It was okay and I think it was good for them to give us a sense of the history of the show. I especially liked the parts with Brian Orser and of course, Sergei Grinkov.

I hated it...it was so infomercial-ish. I was hoping they had stopped doing that, because they used to in years past, and then I think it was last year they actually showed some of the SOI show instead of the infomercial.

I watched bits and pieces, but they wasted so much time with interviews, and the skating they did show was not really worth it. I stopped going to SOI years ago, and this show did not change my mind.

I also wasn't impressed with the program. I haven't gone to a SOI show in years either. Champions, when it existed, was a far superior show IMHO.
