This is just barely 'on-topic' but - At Saturday night's reception, Lucinda Ruh had this neat beaded carrier for her water bottle which was like a shoulder bag made of crystal beads that the water bottle fit in. Does anyone know where to get a pattern or where to buy one?

I've seen blue and white crystal beaded water bottle covers in a catalog, only problem is, which one??? I'm thinking it might have been Lillian Vernon...
Schmeck, wondering if the Haydenettes skated, and how they did?

Haydenettes did skate Saturday night. I am not a person who can evaluate "how they did" but I really liked the routine and the concept of the ballet costuming.

EWC was fun...I was up visiting a friend and we attended. The Haydenettes were simply awesome!!! Truly enjoyed the variety of skating and the different levels of skating. Since I recently watched Gibbons/Pekarek in MD, I was curious to see Belbin/Agosto. B/A did a rather weird number to Elvis, I thought it was their show program and then was told no, that is their free dance for this year. Is this right? If so, IMO, they better re-think their entire presentation. Don't get me wrong, it was a great show program. But it just doesn't seem very difficult or polished for a competitive program. And, it makes both B/A look younger than they are, IMO. Anyway, it was quite entertaining and they do skate great.
How does Gib/Pek compare to B/A? Tough to tell but G/P have a more refined and older look (that was due to the Elvis costumes on B/A I'm sure), as much speed and really are fun to watch. The last time I was in the Gardens (last week), Gib/Pek skated to a tango for the FD, and it was awesome!!! I really look forward to seeing how they will do, and how the National org. will view them in their first year. I see them as Oly representatives in four years given the citizenship issues of the other teams, and that tells me that the USFSA will promote them quickly.
Sorry for the editorial!!!

I really liked the Haydenettes program. I'm assuming it's their competition program for the coming season. There were some rough spots where people got out of line and the blocks lost a little shape but it's really fast and had some (what looked like to me) incredibly difficult sequences. The shifts in hand holds were amazing and I kept wondering how people remembered who they were supposed to be hanging onto because there were so many changes.
We were also seated behind the Matt Lind/ Haydenettes fan club cheering section as well, so from the screaming and shrieking I could have guessed that they did well even if I hadn't seen them skate. :)
For me the high points were Evan Lysacek, Lucinda Rue, the Protopopovs (who looked incredible as usual) and Nancy Kerrigan. I also liked the hula hoop couple - it took me back to the old days when Ice Capades had the stilt skaters and fire-jumpers.
I was thrilled to see the arena very close to full. The reception was also well-attended, although they really need some way to identify the skaters since they look so different in street clothes and I know a lot of the autograph hunters overlooked some of them because they looked so - normal. :) There also seemed to be quite a pizza party going on in the hallway outside the reception room, since the food inside ran out way before most of the skaters got there.
Considering that this was the forth weekend out of the last five that I've spent in an ice rink, I really enjoyed this show and am looking forward to seeing these skaters again.

I was at the Saturday performance of EWC. It was a fun show. The venue isn't that big, so every seat was a pretty good seat. Lemme see what I can remember. I can't remember most of the young skaters' names. For the older skaters, Matt Lind skated well and hit some nice double axels with a smile each time. Evan Lysacek was awesome, he skated to Time To Say Goodbye. When the music started, I was disappointed since so many skaters have already skated to this piece but he did a great job. And he landed three, yes THREE, triple lutzes throughout the night. The young dance team had some nice lifts, I can't remember their names. Belbin/Agosto didn't exactly have the free dance that I was hoping they would, but their synchronized twizzles are awesome. I wonder why they chose Elvis, oh well, I still adore them. Kalesavich/Parchem were great and they landed a throw triple salchow I believe, they skated to a generic ballad. Scott/Dulebohn did a Les Miz medley (On My Own and Do You Hear the People Sing), is this gonna be their free skate? It was entertaining with good unison, but only a throw double toe loop I thinik. Jenny Kirk was a little disappointing. She missed a triple flip to open and the performance wasn't as inspiring as I would have hoped, she skated to a generic ballad as well. The Protopopovs were terrific, they did some incredible footwork, a small lift, and two death spirals. They got a partial standing ovation and were just so cute. I was honored to see them skate. The Haydenettes were entertaining, but I thought the ballet music was a tad boring. But boy did they have a good fan base there, they got the loudest cheers. Parker Pennington skated to Justin Guarini's version of the American Idol single "Moment Like This." I thought it was hilarious cuz he must have just gotten an mp3 off a file sharing program or something cuz it was a copy of the performance from the tv show, complete with applause and screaming in the background. He's lacking in presentation skills but still enjoyable to watch. Roman Serov had good ice coverage and landed a triple or two. Did some great double axels as well. Lucinda was great. I'm thankful I got to see the spins in person. She did the Alanis Prayer Cycle song in a gold bodysuit. She got some great applause, glad to see she's so appreciated now. She didn't attempt any jumps. I was surprised that Nancy Kerrigan skated, I thought she was only going to host, but she did a fun number to Shakira's Objection Tango. I thought it was a fun choice, but I also love Shakira. She landed a nice triple toe and double axel. The ending was like this 70s medley that was cute and funny. The professional skaters were extremely well-received and just reminded me how much there is a need for a separate professional sphere in the skating world. Their acrobatic moves are so entertaining and eye-catching, the audience just ate it all up. It's a different kind of appreciation fans have for that type of skating than they do for amateur skating. But anyway, it was a fun night and a great deal - so many skaters for a low price, and it's for charity. I'd encourage others to go in the future.

Serov must have done triple axels not doubles.. Jenny Kirk didn't do any triples? what about Donovan?

That is a shame that such a good cause only made $35-40,000.

It's $40,000 more than the Jimmy Fund would have gotten if the show hadn't been held at all.
