View Full Version : Are Jamie and Brandon still together?
I just read in "An Evening with Champions" thread on the review board that they "DEFINITELY" are not together. Please say this isn't true:(. Thanks.

Who are Jamie and Brandon?

Jamie Silverstein and Brandon Forsythe...a new senior icedance team in the USA,
(and both had some success with other partners, particularly at the Junior level.)
I have not heard any news of a breakup, but it wouldnt surprise me because of how difficult it is to mesh with another person while under tremendous pressure athletically, emotionally, and financially.

The Jamie/Brandon split is a RUMOR. RUMORRUMORRUMOR.
I asked Tanith last night if the split was true, and she said that Jamie and Brandon were still skating together when she (Tanith) and Ben left to do EWC.
So, at the very least, despite what DancerFan said in his/her EWC thread, I highly doubt the news of a Jamie/Brandon split could have come from Tanith and Ben. Basically, either DancerFan or Tanith is incredibly mistaken -- they both can't be right!

I've also heard from another source close to one of the skaters within the last week that these two are still together.

well, often when there is a major problem, there is a cooling off time , the rumours begin, and people close to the skaters proclaim that "they are still a team"because there is always the chance that it will blow over,
and sometimes it does, but often, the last to admit it is 100%over are those closest to the situation
so
we shall see.

What I meant to say is that I have rarely heard of a breakup without there at least being some kind of major problem.
At first there is a big denial, but usually, the rumours seem to have some substance.
A happy, productive team just simply does not generate rumours of a breakup.

I have to agree with you NiceIce. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. But rumors so early in a partnership never seem to be a good thing. I hope this isn't the case in this situation.

Rumors are usually indicative of a problem. Otoh, from my observation, there's a point early in almost every new pairs/dance partnership where a split at least becomes talked about--just about every team has to survive that. I can think of a couple of successful partnerships that nearly ended after a couple of months. So even if there are problems right now, that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Then again, it is also true that people will often quickly quell rumors of a breakup, only to have a breakup happen not long afterward because the problems really were unresolvable. It all depends on the situation, and I don't know anywhere near enough about this one to say what's going to happen in the future. All I can say, and most of us can say, is: they're still together now.

If they don't stay together, it's going to be hard to take those Gold sponsors ($10,000 contribution or higher according to Detroit FP) out for coffee at competitions. 8O

Maybe a sponsor who receives their bi-weekly email updates can set us straight. ;)

I know what would set the record straight ... how about a statement from Jaime or Brandon?
A couple years ago, rumors were flying about Brandon and Jessica breaking up so he could skate with Jaime. Couple days later as I remember,Brandon came out with a press release saying he and Jessica were perfectly happy and there was no trueth to that rumor.
Why not do the same for Jaime now?
I choose to believe they are skating together just fine and are looking forward to Mids. :D

But the troubles with Jamie and Justin went on for months without them training at all before they actually said they weren't skating.
I doubt anyone in their camp will come out with any press release now.
And I do hope all of you are right and that they are still skating!

cheeeeshsh!
as of last observation, they were still together. please remember that brandon has to change styles. this can be done. if gregory can do it so can he. he's a lot more flexible.

my point is that melissa, under the tutelage of hess had a different syle from the standard russian (and highly successful) style. changing styles can be done if highly motivated to do so. obviously, with the recent success of g/p, it has been accomplished.
that's what i mean. gregory would not have been as successful in recent competition (starting with last years nationals) had she not been able to adapt style.
and, i have a at least as high regard for brandon's innate abilities, actually moreso, as melissa's. i see no reason that he would not be able to adabt and develop successuflly.

Perhaps the problems between them are deeper than simply a "matter of style."
Thanks for your replies. I hope all is well and that they do compete. I am so looking forward to seeing them, along with all the other up and coming US dance teams!

Of course, for a truly successful partnership, BOTH partners need to adapt, particularly when one member of the team and the coach have been together for years. They don't necessarily need to change their way of doing things, but should at least be taking into consideration that the new member of the team may have a different way of looking at things.
Not reading into anything here or inferring anything...I just don't think that any team, dance or pairs, has a snowball's chance in Tahiti if only one member of the team is being expected to adapt.

lee...
i sincerely hope not. brandon is a very talented young man who has searched long for the ideal partner. jamie, i believe comes the closest so far.
jamie is a brilliantly talented dancer who went through a rough time and deserves a renaissance.
i think they have a fine dance look together. so i hope they persevere.
hang in there jamie, my thoughts and such (you know what i mean) are with you.
sorry to dig up this very old thread, but Jamie and Brandon did in fact break up. Jamie's been MIA for awhile now.

Are you sure about this? Being absent does not mean that there is a break-up. She could be sick or even on a trip.
