She's done them a few times in the belt and then today, attempted them all by herself! She landed one... cheated... BUT she landed the dang thing! She is now axel crazy(as her coach put it!) and practiced and practiced and practiced them today. Here we go... now I get to watch dd as she tries to get this jump down! Wow. Oh and her combo spins are coming along too!

Saturday is her ice show... it'll be fun to watch! Both she and my youngest son will be in it. :) Anyway, I had to share! Dd is very happy! She knows she has a lot of work ahead of her and it could take awhile to truly land it, but at least she can see the light at the end of the tunnel! :)

Her coach would be aware of this, so it's not a big worry - but if she's practicing them 'over and over', and she doesn't have proper technique, she could be learning bad muscle memory. If she doesn't land them after a few tries, she should probably wait until her next lesson to try them again. Of course, if the coach is on the ice at this time while she's practicing, the coach can give her tips to prevent this from happening.

Thanks! Her coach was on the ice while she was practicing. What I think was going on was her own worries about it! Dd actually knows what she was doing wrong and what she needs to do to fix it. :) Her rotation and height is good, she's two footing the landings at times, sometimes falling, sometimes nearly landing them. But yeah... her coach was there too. In another lesson, but on the ice. Good to know about the muscle memory tho! She's so stinking excited it will be hard to keep her from trying them!

Great news, isakswings. I can relate to "axel crazy". With dd it was literally an obsession. Have fun at the show!

Thanks! She worked on them in the harness yesterday. She had a couple of good ones but has not tried to land them w/o harness since last week. That'
s SO ok! She hasn't been working on them long and that jump is hard(from what I am told...lol)! Anyway, she still loves that she is working on them. :) Right now, she's also working on a new program for her comp in February. That'll take some time away from axels... but again, that is totally ok! Thanks again for the reply.
