Thanks for the link. I feel so sorry for him:cry: I hope his recovery goes smoothly.

Oh, no!! At least it sounds like he's hopeful - wanting to still do the final two GP events instead - but I hope this is just a bump in the road and not long coast downhill. I'd hate to see a long string of injuries take him down, so I hope he makes sure he's fully recovered before he starts pushing the quads again.

Oh boy, I wonder if it's the same hip he injured a few years ago. Hmm....speedy recovery, Tim!

Boy, this really changes things. I hope he recovers and can get back on track. If he dosen't compete at Nationals this year that will really open the door up.... Lets hope that the two weeks will help him out!

Oh YUCK! I guess that answers some questions about his performance at Campbells. I wish him the best! He is a neat kid.

Any word on who will be replacing him?

I hope Tim will get better by Nationals, otherwise this could open the door for Weiss to regain his title.

If the USFSA has the option of replacing Tim (and I'm not sure that they do), I wonder who they will choose. Here are the options:

Dillon (4th Nebelhorn, 10th Nationals)
Miller (2nd Nebelhorn, 3rd Junior Nationals)
Jahnke (5th Finlandia, 8th Nationals)
Bradley (7th Nationals, upcoming international)
Ward (14th Nationals, upcoming international)
Smith (9th Nationals, upcoming international)

I suppose they would like to see if Ryan Bradley does well in Vienna before making a decision but if he does worse than 4th, they could go down the line to Jahnke, Smith, or beyond.

Weiss could have regained his title without Tim's setback, he's looking good. Can't help but wonder if the wear and tear of that long COI tour contributed to this, it certainly didn't help. But then Weiss was on the same tour and looks to be in great shape. Speedy recovery to Tim.

i agree speedy. weiss is looking good. now a lot of the people who complain about the same people competing all the time will get their wish. we will see some new faces. poor timmy...i'm sad to hear of his injury. but i am happy that he is doing the smart thing and taking time off to rest it and hopefully completely heal. i really hope to see him at nationals and worlds this year!

If Tim is injured, that leaves Nationals open to Weiss or Savoie. The only other one I see as close is Johnny weir, and he's injured too, although he may be back on ice, I'm not sure.

that's very unfortunate :(
I hope he gets better soon :)

Yes, this certainly creates an interesting situation...

I don't really know what's going on with Johnny Weir's training status or his injury. With Tim injured too, this certainly creates some openings on the GP for the US Men for Skate Canada, Nation's Cup, and Trophee Lalique.

Ryan Bradley seems to be the next-in-line guy now. He has been gaining consistency on the 3axel, has had some very promising international results (despite his problems at Jr Worlds last year), and has consistently made the top ten at US Nationals for senior men over the past few years. He has been reportedly landing quads in practice as well. We know that he has consistent triple jumps and triple-triples....Presentation is excellent this year, and I'd love to see him on the Grand Prix. Doing well at Vienna Cup is an important factor--if he medals there, there should be no reason to keep from sending him to the GP.

I don't think the USFSA would give Dillon a GP assignment because he has no 3axel, and especially now that he just lost to Jordan Wilson at regionals...

Rohene Ward needs to medal or at least skate extremely well in Vienna to be given a GP assignment, considering his low finish at Nationals last year.

I don't think someone like Ben Miller who hasn't been to US Nationals as a senior man will get a GP assignment, especially since he's already gotten 2 B Internationals. He had an impressive start in his first event and good luck to him at Zagreb, but I doubt we'll see him on the GP.

Same goes for Scott Smith, who has all the jumps and improving presentation skills and showed great strength at Liberty. Unfortunately he did not skate as well at regionals, but hopefully he'll have success at Zagreb. I don't think the USFSA quite has the confidence in him to be sending him on to the GP yet. Hopefully next year.

Ryan Jahnke has a shot, I'd say, after his consistent placements in the top 10 all these years. They sent him out a few years ago, so I could see them giving him one event again. Wonderful presentation skills, and for what it's worth, he did a great job at Liberty Open this year. :)

To sum it all up, here's my list:

Probably- Ryan Bradley
Possibly- Rohene Ward, Ryan Jahnke
Not this year- Scott Smith, Ben Miller, Justin Dillon

Oh, and get well soon, Tim! :)

haribobo...I noticed that Ryan Bradley got some very high marks in his regionals competition. I'm crossing my fingers that he has a good year (whether or not he gets any GP assignments)! :)

What happened to Johnny?

Johnny Weir had some kind of injury which allowed him to switch and do the last 2 GP events. He may be recovered from it now, I'm not quite sure...on 2nd thought, if Scott Smith does really well at Zagreb, he may have a shot at being an alternate in case Tim or Johnny aren't ready, since he has a quad and 3ax in his arsenal. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out-- I hope no spots go to waste...
