Greetings

I am Mr Benjamin Davids form the uk I would like to book for skating classes/workshop for 2 hours each day,as the case may be, Monday through Saturday (morning hours or evening hours) for a group of 10 adults,We would be coming over to your location, and as part of our plans we intend to have classes/private lessons in that space of time, where do you conduct the training?send us your offers for the adult classes and please let me know if you have skating shoes for hire and also i will like to let you know that the skaters have little or less skating skills that is why we are coming over to have the training so i believe you are in a good position to let us know how many weeks of training will be good enough for the group to have learnt something , Do you have guest rooms or is there any 3 star hotel close to your studio where we can lodge ?
DATE: November 4th TO 27thth Nov 2009 is the date taken by the group
please get back to me with the required information i await your email

A similar scam made its way around a year or so ago.....I was contacted by someone saying their son was doing a school exchange and staying with relatives near my rink. I used my hotmail email to correspond with the 'woman' - just in case - and could never nail down details. the 'skater' was an older teen who wanted to be 'competitive' and had taken a few weeks of lessons in his home country but the coach died.....I responded to the email with information and received a response reiterating the request for a lesson cost quote so they could send money in advance (which I don't do - I bill monthly)...and after a couple of email exchanges I never heard from the woman again. It wasn't until later that I read about the possible scam on the USFSA website - that it made sense.

BTW I've had more than a couple of strange phone calls over the years asking for lessons - so I am always on my guard!

What is the goal of the scam? Do they ask coaches for money to book the class? Or is it one where they send money then ask it to be refunded before it has cleared?

I think they're looking for bank account info.

Sounds like a variation of the "Nigerian Scam" where they overpay you, you deposit the check and send them a refund....meanwhile their check was no good, so your bank doesn't honor it but too late! Cause you have already sent them their refund.....
