I'm so proud of my DD! She loves ice dance, but has had some bad luck lately.

In May, she tested the Bronze dance test. Due to the way the schedule went (her group was last on a night session) and a mix up with a judge leaving so they couldn't double panel dance...my DD ended up doing her dances at 11:30 at night. She was tired and didn't skate her best. She passed the Hickory and retried the Willow and Ten Fox.

She has been taking lessons with the same coach for 2 years. Towards the end of May, he told us he would be teaching somewhere else for the summer giving us a week's notice. My DD could take lessons with his wife until he came back at the end of July. He wanted to set up a test session for DD out where he was teaching since we would be out there for a competition. Mid-June we heard rumors that he didn't want to come back to our rink. Long story short...his wife only had 15 mins/week to give to DD and I felt like he kind of jerked us around all summer saying one thing, but doing another.

Last week, my DD went to a skate camp with a test session at the end. She worked really hard - skating 2-3 dance sessions/day in addition to 1 moves and 1 freeskate session. Mid-week she had some bad blisters because she is used to skating 2-3 sessions/day. She kept going. She really worked hard and gave it her all every session despite being tired.

Saturday she took her dance tests. She not only passed her Ten Fox and Willow Waltz, but her Fourteenstep, too. I was about to cry watching her several times during the week. Not only did she look beautiful dancing during her partner practice, but she was so happy. I am really proud of all her hard work and not getting discouraged.

Now we've been working on getting a new dance coach. At least, she's got those Bronze dances behind her and a good start on the pre-silvers.

Yay Yay Yay now on to the nasty European! Congratulations to your daughter. I told DD about yours having to test that late at night and her jaw literally hit the floor. I was really surprised they allowed it - I would be so sleepy I wouldn't be able to remember the steps!

Thank you!

The May test was a consolidated session between all the clubs in our area. They've already said that they are going to separate dance for next year. It was crazy late.

My DD actually likes the European. She says all the 3 turns are like an amusement park ride.
