Not my usual long reviews, but here's some highlights from last night's show:

Biggest applause - Michelle, no doubt. Whenever Michelle came out, the flashbulbs in the entire arena kept flashing throughout the entire time. It's clear that no matter what standing Michelle places in competition, the public absolutely loves her. I cried when she skated her Fields of Gold program - it was quiet and beautiful.

Sarah got the second biggest applause, and her program was very pretty - I was impressed! She was very graceful and the audience loved it.

Sasha - she got a big applause also, and her program was cute, but she fell twice. Still enjoyed her, though.

L/T - Oh man, can I take Peter home with me?? Wow - he's gorgeous. So is that program.

For the second year in a row, Galit and Sergei were on hand as surprise performers in the Chicago COI show - and boy did they rock!!! I have no idea what their program is called, but they were really incredible. Very fun, filled with lots of "umph" - I loved it! The choreography was crisp, VERY fast, and really good. For my money, their performance was one of the highlights of the show.

P/S - I didn't like the program as much as my niece did, but I do like Liz and Jerrod's skating very much.

Plushy - WOW! Wow wow wow wow wow! I could watch his Carmen all day - I'm not a huge fan, but this program was made for Plushy and I loved it!

Elvis - ROCKED! Loved the techno program.....and can that man spin! He also did a thing where he spun on his hands and skates - if anyone saw the chair program from SOI a few years back, remember how the guys would send the chairs spinning as they leaned their hands on the chairs and their skates were on the ice? That's how Elvis did it, but no chair - he wore gloves and had his hands on the ice. Very

Rudy - I remember when I saw his Village People program the first time...and the second time...and the third time...you get the idea - this is probably the fifth time I've seen it live. However, it's popular, fun, and the audience loves it, so I can see why Tommy asked Rudy to bring it back.

Irina - very cute!! I liked her cowboy program - it fit her well. I really like her and look forward to this upcoming season.

Tim - fun! However, I was disappointed - no quads in the show from either Tim or Evgeny. The quad-masters let me down!!

I almost forgot about Artur and Oksana - wow! I really love that program too - they were awesome and got huge applause.

Other surprise guests: Stephanie Kalesavich & Aaron Parchem (they were okay, but definitely need work on their exhibition style - they were a bit junior-ish yet) and Tatiana Totmianina & Maksim Marinin (good skating, boring program).

Strange - Dorota Zagorska & Mariusz Siudek were introduced and skated in the intro, but didn't do a solo program.

Notable skaters either not in Chicago or not with COI anymore - that I TOTALLY miss: Todd, Alexei, B/S, B/K, S/P, A/P.

[quote:7d139a7e26="Patrick Brunk"]Thanks for the review, Kruss. :D

It is so good to hear how good Michelle is skating, and Sarah too. They truly are the greatest ladies in the Skating World Today. I cannot wait until next season.

I am also happy to see Irina is back from her injury. Did you note which jumps she landed/did not land?

I am glad you had a great time. Thanks for the review.

I'm so sorry - I didn't pay attention to all the jumps, so I don't know what she landed.

Welcome to the board! :)

[b:6210ba5df5]Kruss[/b:6210ba5df5]!! We were there too!! :D We decided last minute to go, and ended up getting put in the nose-bleed section, but it was great to see. We scanned the audience (via binoculars) to see if we could find anyone we knew, but there were just too many people and we were too far away... oh well. :?
Too bad we couldn't have found you and said hi.

I [b:6210ba5df5]LOVED[/b:6210ba5df5] what Elvis did with the spinning!! THAT WAS SO COOL!! (Think I should work on that when I get back to the ice!)

Hey, I sat in those seats before - didn't the ice look like bugs on soap?? ;)

We were in the 200 level, so it's the level directly above the lower box seats.

Wish I'd have known you were going and thought of it - on Friday I was offered lower level, 8th row tickets for below price...

I think I could probably do that move very well, considering I'd probably spend most of my time ON my hands on the ice....

 and what about getting up again? Elvis can get back up while still on his edges from those low spins.
