DD passed Intermediate Moves Today!

I'm so proud of my dd. She passed her Intermediate moves today on the first try with scores above passing! It seems like only yesterday she took her first moves test (of course it has been several years). Only 3 more to go now. We hear Novice is the longest, and maybe the hardest, so she is planning on a year before she tests again.

Congrats to your daughter! That's a fine accomplishment!

Don't get psyched out over the Novice test - just have her put it out there when her coach thinks it's ready. My daughter actually had more trouble with Intermediate - took 3 tries to pass that, but passed Novice on the first go. She was quite young when she did Intermediate, and the judges wanted more power - she just had to grow some in order to give it to them. My daughter thought Junior was pretty challenging, but found Senior easy. I think it's likely that different skaters have different impressions!

Yes, Novice is one of the longer test, although that may change when the new moves come into effect.

As for it being one of the harder tests, I agree with others that each skater has his/her own strengths and weaknesses, so I can't necessarily support that theory.

I can say that from Intermediate and higher, the judges are expecting a bit more out of these tests, so have your daugther take her time and test at her own pace.
