Congrats to you and your daughter!!! I just love to see the kids land axels for the first time. It's such a milestone for them and I think it gives them a renewal of confidence and goals. I know your dd has been landing these for little awhile and I'm sure she's just delighted that she's skated into the jump and landed with a glide. It's like another huge step forward. Tell her to keep up the good work, we're all enjoying the progress via your posts!
CONGRATULATIONS!

Thanks all!
Today, she did it in her program- with no problem at all. Her coaches were ecstatic! She is going to skate up to pre-preliminary at the end of August and try it out. She is over the moon!!

That is great.
My daughter's axel gone off a bit at present and she is so cross about it. (Apparantly over-rotating it by some way and then falling). She needs it in her next program so here's hoping out summer holiday and a break from skating sorts it!

Good for her! It seems to me that is the hardest thing to do once the kids have their axels... doing it in their programs and landing them consistantly while in their programs.
Dd's friend has her axel and will land it during practices and landed it in one of her programs this last weekend. However, she missed it in the next 2 programs! I think she over thinks it and needs to let herself just do it w/o worrying about it. I think she over roatates when she thinks too much about it. If she just does it, she does fine. Who knows, huh? I think when my daughter starts landing her axels I will likely hold my breath each time she does one in competition. LOL!

Oh I know! She's learning small jump combos and I think those little ones are going to make me nervous too. YIKES!
