I've been shortlisted by the judges in the British Airways Great Britons bursary competition (sponsors of the 2012 Olympics) to win flights to the US to help continue my research in skating performance and training next year.

I have been shortlisted in the final 8. But now it's up to the public vote to select from the finalists -

The judges have rated my work, saying:
"We had so many outstanding entries but it was the new and innovative approach by Hannah that put her into the shortlist. We had not heard of someone attempting this type of research and we would love to see the end results."

Finding funding to continue my PhD research has been tough, in spite of support from pro skaters, coaches and sports psychologists. So this is such a great opportunity to help fund the continuation of my research in skating through a collaboration with Push Physical Theatre Company in New York.

Push is a physical theatre company, who work directly through the gymnastic strength and artistic beauty of the performing body and who have committed their time and energy towards helping me research and develop training practices in skating.

To do this however I need to fund the transport costs to get to the US with my skating partner and coach Simon Jenkins, who again has been 100% in support of my research.

Through this work I want to build government backing, funding and publicity for an amazing sport whose athletes really deserve so much more support than they currently get.

Please help by voting for me at:

Thank you!
Hannah

I'm sorry if anyone has tried to vote and couldn't -
( BA website design scores 0 )

But I have found a way past the tech problems

I've mentioned to other skaters, I'm up against the GB handball team - and that's a lot of voters!

Please help me get some research going, publicity, and hopefully more chances of funding for our sport and our athletes.
