Awesome! thanks for posting this. Someone was just asking about this, so your timing is perfect.
ETA: Wow. The resolution is great and so far, the stream is smooth with no stalls or glitches. Kudos to NBC Universal.
ETA: NO COMMENTARY!!! I love it!

WOO HOO!!! Didn't think I could get this because I'm outside of their normal cable area. Picture is very clear and great!!
I'm bummed. Stalls constantly, I just can't watch it. Will IceNetwork carry Worlds at all?

I haven't had a single stall and I've been watching since I posted the "WOW". I've opened a bunch of different apps, and accidentally started iTunes.
Their FAQ has a note about conflicts between video players on your computer. http://www.universalsports.com/FAQs.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=23000#account_support
Also, try updating your computer's browser and Java. (Java doesn't update automatically, in my experience.) That's helped me in the past with video feed problems.
ETA: I don't see anything on IceNetwork about it - that's the USFSA's site and this is an ISU competition. NBC Universal probably bought the online viewing rights.

Good thing they're on a break right now, then. Get back to your studies!
They showed a few shots during the Men's Short that were really well-done, camera-wise. One skater had an elaborate combination spin at the end of the rink, they cut to an OVERHEAD view of the spin. It was eye-catching and interesting to watch.
Kudos to the camera crew and directors.

The FAQ, unfortunately has nothing about stalls. Lots about not being able to view at all, but that's not my problem. Everything I've got is up to date. I have JAVA set to check for updates and it works fine. I'm using the latest version of IE and run all the WinXP updates that apply to my PC. I suspect it's my ISP and the relatively slow speed I'm getting, for which there is no immediate cure (also none I want to pay for). Thanks for giving it a try.
IceNetwork carries plenty of ISU events, but I think you must be right about this one and NBC. I hate them for not broadcasting anything but one lousy event.
Just because there was nothing left to try, I signed on to DH's machine, which connects wirelessly, but is much newer and runs Vista. I'm well past the 40 second mark, which was the limit on my PC, so it's looking good!
Woo Hoo! I am in! And did I mention that DH has a gorgeous 24" monitor?

I'm really enjoying this because of the resolution quality.
I opened another window with this document in it:
http://www.isuresults.com/results/wc2009/wc09_Men_SP_TimeSchedule.pdf
That way, I can guess who the skater is because I'm not really paying attention when they announce it over the loudspeaker.

When I click open the Universal Sports (http://www.universalsports.com/mediaPlayer/media.dbml?CLIP_ID=114046&_MODE_=EVENT&db_oem_id=23000) page in my browser, it plays the 15-second running commercial then automatically starts the skating.

Note: I just read that link and it says that the videos aren't available outside the US. Shouldn't be an issue for Phoenix, but someone else asked me this morning.

Note that this site is available in the US only. Unless you can somehow fake a US ISP address ... (which apparently is possible, but I haven't a clue how).
CBC has online coverage, it's just a little cumbersome to naviate.
