SNIPPET:
======================================
Q: Are you married?

A: Divorced. There is no one special in my life right now but yeah, I'm looking.

Q: If there were going to be a movie about you, who would play you?

A: Maybe Jake Gyllenhaal

Q: What do you do when you are not skating?

A: I golf. I have a six handicap. And I race my Corvette. I just had a slight accident at a track with it. I'm trying to work it out with the insurance company.

That's too bad - he seems like a nice guy. I guess all that travel either makes or breaks a relationship. I wish him well and hope he doesn't trash that 'Vette (or himself, lol.) I love 'Vettes!

I'm sorry for Todd & hopes that in the future he will truly find the woman to make him happy.

Thanks for sharing this article. Todd Eldredge has always been one of my favorite skaters. He is a talanted athlete, and truly seems like a great guy. I was so happy when I heard about his marriage, and am now saddened to hear about his divorce. I hope that he is able to find comfort in his skating, and those closest to him.

I can't say this surprises me...I remember watching a segment with Todd and his ex-wife either preparing for the wedding or just post wedding, and she came off as very much a person that was more interested in the wedding rather than the marriage. There was just something that seemed very superficial about them as a couple.

But I am sorry it didn't work out for him, as he seems like a really nice guy.

I am sorry it did not work out for him too. Thank goodness they didn't have kids. I think she hurt his career more than helped.

I saw SOI last week and I think he has a new lease on life - his skating and athleticism are outstanding. Perhaps some of the best I have seen in years. He is certainly in amazing shape compared to last year.

I agree that the wedding coverage was all about the bride's superficial attitiude. Afterall, she had more to say about the stupid car cake she bought him, and her pink "this and that", than her actual love for him. I personally think she was out for his cash. Todd grew up the son of a fisherman, and the lavish over the top lifestyle is not "Todd".

IMG should have thought about issuing a press release about the divorce - it's rather odd to have such a splashy wedding and such a silent divorce, only coming out in the Hartford Courant.

Here's the house on the lake that was on that HGTV show a few years ago:

Apparently at some point Todd sold it and moved to this house:

http://www.coldwellbanker.com/servlet/PropertyListing?action=detail&ComColdwellbankerDataProperty_id=12292590&page=property

Look, here's a pic of a "Todd" sign in the house, LOL:

And here's Todd's famous Lalique chandelier:

Look at the other photos and you'll see LOTS OF PINK, just like on Todd's wedding show that was on the Oxygen Network a few years ago.

Thanks for the links. Do you have some sort of personal connection to Todd?

Kelly Green

No personal connection to Todd. And I really wouldn't want one, either: His interests (golf, cars, women) bore me to tears.

I just find it interesting that Todd showed his house on an HGTV show, and showed his wedding preparations on an Oxygen Network show, yet if anyone DARES try to talk about his divorce on the skating message boards (FSU included), the post gets deleted and the poster gets warned/banned because "Todd is a very very private person." LOL.

Yes, I find that odd, too.

But Megan did strike me as very very young and.... flakey.

I do actually feel bad for Todd because the whole ordeal must have been very uncomfortable for him. With him being out on the road touring so much, who knows - maybe Megan had wild parties at his home with young friends. She's only around 22 or 23 years old - she needs to be young and wild and Todd - 37 years old - is far beyond that. In fact, I doubt Todd was ever WILD, even when he was 22!

Still, it's weird how the divorce is VERBOTEN on most of the message boards!

Its Verboten on many boards because of the many nasty minded people who enjoy attacking others even tho they are not privy to any facts.

The thread was not deleted b/c Todd is a private person, it was deleted b/c people were making inappropriate (to put it mildly) and tasteless comments about his personal life that violated the rules of the board.

So which FSU poster from that thread are you? Oh, and I think 'board dragging' is against the rules here.

You can't post anything on these boards that strays outside their draconian guidelines. ie. truth, personal opinion, or anything that really sets this sport straight. Pathetic.

If anyone even gets to read this post.

Megan was 19 years old when she and Todd first met - in March/April 2003, so she'd be around 25 now. Todd turned 37 - 12 years her senior - in August 2008.

(I know Megan was 19 when they met because shortly after his wedding I participated in an online chat on one of his message boards, and one of the "chatters" was a close relative of Megan's.)

I'm sure it's difficult for both of them at this time. Divorce stinks no matter what the circumstances.

I dunno, Megan seems to be enjoying herself, at least according to her Facebook page:

(Looks like she got custody of the dogs.)

And her hair is brown now!! Maybe that's why they split up!! 8-)

AMEN to that!!!! (And I'm thankful for my wonderful long time husband and best friend!!!)

I think if you read this line:

Unfortunately I'm not home as much as my wife would like......that could be a VERY good reason of why the marriage collapsed. I mean, what's the point of being in a marriage if your spouse is never there b/c he's always touring? It really does take dedicated time to work on a marriage...

But since now he is back on the market... Hey, Todd!!! How about ME!?!?!? :P   (Yeah, I know. Didn't think so either... My first choice would have been John Zimmerman anyway. :P )

What's the point of being married if your spouse is always touring? The same reason that people marry professional athletes from other sports, service men or women who are stationed overseas, traveling salespeople, entertainers, politicians, travel agents, & don't forget a little thing called alimony which you seldom get for living together for 4 or5 years.

What's the point of being married if your spouse is always touring? Todd wasn't "always touring." SOI runs from January through April. I think they have several weeks of rehearsal in Lake Placid, NY before "opening night" there the Sat after T-giving. Granted, Todd probably had to occasionally go out of town for choreo, or publicity stuff, but pro skating today is not what it was 10 years ago. I think he had plenty of down time at home.

Plenty of everyday jobs require travel and many of those people make marriages work. And plenty of married people don't travel for work and still get divorced - let's not speculate on what caused Todd's divorce or why his wife married him - I'm sure whatever it is, it's more complex than that.

Let's also recall Megan actually met Todd while he was on tour, and dated him while he continued to tour with SOI.

She knew exactly the life she was entering into. Perhaps she wasn't nature enough to handle it in the end?

I hope Todd finds a new partner someday, perhaps a professional skater, who understands the lifestyle 110%. Afterall, we see many actors who marry actresses - they know the trials and tribulations of being in the industry, and bouy each other along.

That said, all relationships take work.

Debbie I'm not the one who originally raised this question. If you had bothered to read my post you would have found it to be quite similar to your own response. I do Not speculate or comment negatively about any skater & certainly not Todd who's been my favorite since I first saw him when he was 17.

OH MY GOD - Todd's house is now on sale for just $1,000,000 8O

He dropped the price from $1,600,000 to just ONE MILLION!

He must:
A. Really want to be rid of that thing (and all the memories, perhaps)
B. Not need the money if he can take a $600,000 hit.
C. All of the above.

WOW. 8O

I would also MUCH rather live in Florida than in Michigan! Too cold!! 8-)

Michigan economy sucks, the value on lots of properties in our state have bottomed out. I hate to see what my house is assessed at since buying 4 years ago.

I'm finding the more involved I'm getting in the sport, the more contact I have with "celebrity" skaters and thus, I am not interested in discussing their personal lives in a public forum. Nothing ruined idolizing baseball players like being a host mom or the illusion of skating stars like becoming a judge.
