I received the info below today via email from the PSA. From the PSA press release:

(March 10, 2009) — The Professional Skaters Association and the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) have signed a joint agreement to cooperate and work together for the purpose of developing, improving and promoting ice skating coaches’ education.

“The ISI and PSA share a long history of working together for the betterment of ice skating,” said ISI Executive Director Peter Martell. “This landmark agreement not only provides meaningful benefits to each organization, but also reinforces our commitment to cooperate and collaborate for the greater good of the sports and industry we both serve.”

The agreement calls for ISI recognition of PSA as the official coaches’ education, training and certification program for ISI. It will also serve to advance the mutual goals of the two organizations, including increasing learn-to-skate and recreational ice skating program participation and retention and providing an accessible and affordable coaches’ education, training and certification program.

The ISI recognizes and endorses the PSA grievance procedures and rules as they apply to PSA members who are also ISI Professional members, and agrees to support them by honoring and upholding PSA disciplinary actions at all ISI-sponsored national events.

The PSA is excited to move forward with both ISI and U.S. Figure Skating in an effort to promote skating to all.

As a former ISI skater/coach and a current USFSA/PSA member and coach, I think this could be a good thing as long as it doesn't put more of a financial burden on the coaches. We're already paying for multiple memberships, plus insurance and educational expenses. Perhaps the PSA can convince the USFSA and ISI that we only need ONE membership - that would save a bit of money.
