I just found out a pairs team named Andrea Varraux and David Pelletier will be competing at the Chinese JGP event. No, not that David Pelletier (LOL!)--this is an American pair. And like S&P, they apparently both competed in singles at 2002 Midwesterns:

I'm willing to bet a lot of people did a double take when this pairs team is announced! But it could be worse--the "other" David Pelletier could be teamed up with "Canada's own Michelle Kwan!" ;) (Yes, there's a young skater from Canada with that same name!)

Correction: Those photos are from Easterns, not Mids. But yes, those are the correct skaters. :)

V/P had a strong free program at Liberty and are one of the most enjoyable junior pairs I have seen. With more time and experience together, I think they have good potential for success. I think both are capable of landing 2ax, 3t, and 3s. It's a matter of getting the jumps consistent and landing them in unison (which they were doing well at Liberty, I think). The throws seem to be coming along. Their twist needed work, as of Liberty....I'll be interested to see them at Eastern Sectionals this year because they should be more solid by that point. Choreography is fun and innovative. :)

The American David Pelletier pronounces his name differently. He doesn't pronounce it the French way, but phonetic like "Pelle-teer". So if you're just talking, that's another way not to mix up David Pelletier and David Pelletier.
