On February 18, 1961 Sabena Flight 548 crashed taking with it the entire US figure skating team on its way to Worlds in Prague.
I've come across a number of videos of those who were lost in the flight, in their appearances in 1961 US Nationals. Here as a tribute to their memory are links to those videos.

Thank you for those! Oh that is very sad to hear that the plane crashed, even though it was so long ago! Thank goodness for video/tape. They can be remembered forever.:halo:

Thank You so much for sharing these! It was interesting to compare the jumps/lifts/spins etc. of '61 to the ones done today. Also, to see the judges holding up their scorecards. Things have really changed. The one constant at least until last year seems to have been Dick Button's commentary. He is a true legend.

I was not yet born in 1961, so I can only imagine how devestating the plane crash was to everyone. It was so sad to hear Laurance Owen excitedly talking about getting ready for world's after her win at Nationals.

I never hear it before: It is really really sad!

I think it's the same thing happened to my town's football team (very famous team, so it was called The Big Torino) more years ago ...
