I just signed up, and have been playing with it.

Here are my suggestions.

1. Be sure to logout when done, as discussed
in step 5. Else it may think you are logged in
through multiple computers at once, and kick
you out. If you still have a problem, make sure
you delete private data when you exit the browser.

This is sort of covered at

http://web.icenetwork.com/help/technical.jsp

I suggest you read that and do everything they say regardless.

Here are my own instructions for deleting private data

If using Internet Explorer

Alt-T(Brings up Tools) Alt-D (Delete Private data)
Click on Delete All
Exit Internet Explorer

If using Firefox,

Alt-T(Brings up Tools) Alt-D (Delete Private data)
Select everything you can
Click on Delete Private data
Exit Firefox.

Or use another browser, like Opera (http://www.opera.com/download).

It is not supported, but seems to have a lot fewer problems with Icenetworks.

You don't have to make it the default browser if you don't want.

If using Opera

Alt-T(Brings up Tools) Alt-D (Delete Private data)

The first time, click on detailed options,
select everything (caution - that
includes passwords, if you currently rely on
browsers to remember them!),
Click on delete

Exit Opera

While you are at it, the first time,
Click on Alt-T, select preferences,
click on history,
make sure it does not remember content,
and empties cache on exit,
click on cookies,
select to remember them,
but to delete on exit.
Then do Alt-T, select quick preferences,
make sure Enable Javascript and Enable Plug-INS are selected.

2. In any event, to get the best video quality,
you may want to use 800*600 display mode,
using 24 or 32 bit color, with 60 HZ refresh
rate. Here is how:

Go into your Control Panel
(Start -> Control Panel under windows XP),
Switch to Classic View if the option is available,
double click on Display,
click on Settings,
select 800*600 resolution,
24 or 32 bit color quality,
click on OK (twice if required),
click on Advanced, Monitor,
select 60 HZ frame rate.

When you are done watching Icenetworks
you probably want to go back to your original
resolution, because 800*600 doesn't let you see much.

No matter what you do, or how fast your internet connection, Icenetworks does not give as good video quality as a TV connected to a cable system, even if you aren't used to HDTV. On a good quality monitor (maybe not on a slow-fade monitor, like an LCD screen, which hides stuff, by blurring frames together), you can see flickers. On any good decent sized monitor you will see reduced resolution and funny artifacts on moving faces. Actually you might hide some of it by not using full screen mode - but only because you can't see the details. I'm quite disappointed.

Bear in mind I DO know how to shut down processes and start-ups that aren't needed, and shut out spyware and such, so that isn't the problem. The streaming video transfer speeds that Icenetwork.com provides simply aren't fast enough to give true broadcast quality, at least within a Flash context.

3. Sometimes Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox get configured into such a way not everything works. For example, you may not see the tabs (such as the login/logout button) at the top, and some other things may not show. Or the colors may be wrong. I can't find a way to fix this!

But you can fix it by creating and logging into a new user account. That will start with fresh settings.

A better way is to just use Opera, which doesn't have the problem.

4. Icenetworks.com looks best in full screen mode. Start up the desired video, then right click on it, and select zoom, then Full Screen. To get out of full screen mode, right click on the video, and click on Exit Full Screen.

5. After you have watched the video, click out of the video window (Click on the X at the top right), and remember to Logout, by clicking on the Logout button. Then delete all private data, as discussed in step 1.

thanks for posting this. I had such a difficult time with icenetwork during Nationals and hope to get it up and running before Worlds since they won't be televised - well, they'll be on Oxygen, which we don't get, LOL...

I may come back to this thread to ask you more specific questions or maybe just PM you... thanks again.
