Hi
I have been skating on and off for 2 years which probably puts my ice time to about 8 months, just more or less finished the skate UK (learn to skate) program and have been working on some basic dances (foxtrot, waltz and blues) and am having awful problems these days with my blades.
I got these skates and blades (risport RF3 with coronation comet blades) about a year ago and since being forced to purchase comets I have more or less lost my turns. My 3 turn is very hard to get, I no longer have any hope what so ever of a two foot spin let alone a one. These blades are beyond flat and are of no use to me what so ever. The skates that I started out on as an adult beginner werent superb but at least I could make a turn.
The problem is, I cannot get hold of any coronation ace at a 10" size because no one in the UK seems to have that particular size in stock. The comets are no good for me and I desperately need to find a blade that is as damn near to the coronation ace as possible or I can see myself having to pack it up.
Can anyone reccommend a freestyle blade thats suitable for a lowish level skater that is more or less equivalent to the coronation ace?
I only ended up with comets as at the time I didnt know any better and the dealer told me that the comets were equivalent to the ace, I have since found out that they are not.
Many thanks in advance

MK Professional? Very similar from what I've heard.

I go on ebay every day looking for blades (yes, I am obsessed) - actually they send me a notice every day about all items with the word blade in it. There are a lot of used blades out there (I have purchased them and they have been fine) and occassionally new ones, too.
I would look there - also go online - you can check out skate equipment sites and find your own blades - you may have to pay more shipping if you want to get some from across the pond but it would be worth it I think.

I second the suggestion of MK Professionals.
Both the Cornation Ace and the MK Professional have a 7' rocker, a 7/16" ROH, a cross cut toe rake design, and a parallel blade style. Price-wise, these two blades are pretty comparable.

I will "third" the suggestion of MK Professional blade. The Pro and the Comet are pretty much interchangeable.

I'm assuming you mean the Pro and the Ace.
I had Coronation Comets and while they were very stable and had a nice run, they were indeed hard to turn in. I have MK Pros now and they are better in that regard.

YIKES!! Yes, I meant the Professional and Coronation Ace are practically interchangeable! LOL! The Comet is--from everything I've heard--impossible to spin on!

Run, do not walk, to the MK Pros.
Seriously, I skated in Comets my first 10 years, and switched to MK Pros 2 years ago. I have made 5 times the progress in the last 2 years than I did the first 10 years, the Pros are soooo superior. I never could spin on the Comets, and now I have a consistent forward scratch spin and am close to a back scratch spin. Just my experience here.

Have you checked Everglides for the Aces? I think he had something close to 10" when I was there before Christmas (it might not have been 10"). If you email him he's very good at responding and might have some other suggestions for options.
I don't know about the MK Pros everyone's talking about (although I've heard them recommended) and I don't skate in Aces. I'm in ISE (Jerry's) Sterling. I was told when I got them that they were an equivalent level to Aces (and seen that written on some website or other). I got them when I was a similar level to you and had no problem adjusting to them from my low level beginner blades. However, you might have to mail them in from North America, but I'd hope being Jerry's one of the UK dealers would be able to get them (they buy the dresses so should be able to get the blades). They're cheaper than Aces and MK Pro so that's a plus in my book. I also heard Ultima recommended. I can't comment on them, although I'm waiting for their blades to come in with some dance boots.

Why do you need the blades to be sold in the UK? You can order from anywhere in the European union and it will be shipped to you, tax-free because that's what Europe is. Try checking German and Italian and French sites?
Sure it'll cost you the shipping and you'll probably have to pay some extra to have them mounted (the skateshop guy took 15 euro from me to mount snow whites and I imagine blade mounting is easier and faster than that) but hey if that's what it takes to get the blades you need it's worth it.
Additionally at the level of 3-turns and 1-foot-spins, MK21 should be okay for you although they're not like the coronation ace - they're rounder and with less toe-pick. I had problems turning in Aces at first, after MK21. I think the MK21 comes recommended for all the singles where as the Ace comes recommended for some of the easier doubles as well. But Mk21's are significantly cheaper than Aces (either that, or our skate store had a giant sale on them last year spring).
