What is Beatrisa Liang doing???? Sigh. She's constantly blowing her changes to make a world team. She's done competitively. I wonder if she's even going to bother staying in for one more year.

Thanks for starting this thread!

I'm psyched about Czisny - I hope she does well.

I read that she switched back to traditional boots from the hinged ones, which has been a major change for her.

Czisny also got mentoring/coaching from Boitano and Linda Leaver this year. So it's hard to attribute any clean skate she has solely to switching boots and/or help from Boitano-Leaver. Maybe it's one or a combination of both. Anyway, it's only the OP. She still has the big one on Saturday. It would be great if she can put back-to-back clean performances.

I've really liked what I've seen of Czisny this year, I think she's got the best all-around package.

NBC had dances and pairs on Saturday (1/24) starting at 3pm. The ladies will be on prime time Saturday night (1/24) at 8pm.

Czisny's Swan program is pretty, but doesn't it look like a lot of other pretty Swan programs? I would like to see a lady interprets SL without doing the cliche-ish walking-on-the-toe-pick and flapping arms movements. I also think her footwork doesn't flow. I'm not sure what kind of mark she's getting for it from the judges.

Isn't her program "The Swan" and not Swan Lake? But I agree - flapping the arms is obvious.

I've really liked what I've seen of Czisny this year, I think she's got the best all-around package.I've always been a Czisny fan and I really hope she nails the long program. I'd like to see her earn the national title.

I'm not updating my signature though, since I am The Jinx.
Anyone I root for tanks, lol.

Break a leg, Alissa!

NBC SP recaps:

Why does the camera always go in for the close-up when the women go into their spiral sequences? :frus: It's like that's the one camera trick the camera man/producer learned, and they don't know how do do anything else. You lose the entire effect of Czisney's front Charlotte when all you see is her head pointing downward to the ice

Much improved award goes to Ashley Wagner. I really liked the choreography to her "Somewhere In Time" program, her much improved style, and her really beautiful twisted spinning positions. The arms position during Ashley's layback were also lovely and unique. Unfortunate about the jumps but hopefull she can pull it together tonight.

Racheal Flatt was just boring to me. There's no charisma to her performance at all.

Zhang was still too slow for a senior lady. She can't compete with the world best is she doesn't improve her speed and attack.

I agree about the Charlotte. It's not hiding the flipped-up skirt, so why not take a long shot?

Czisny was great in that short program. Careful, controlled, one thing at a time. Definitely a good choice.

I thought Wagner looked the same as last year, but I really thought her dress was too "mature" for her. Guess she's trying to shake the "teenage sensation" look.

I thought Flatt's program looked as if it was still in the rehearsal hall and she didn't realize the audience was watching. It was an okay short program.

I was disappointed that one of the skaters SHOWED her disappointment after she skated. I'm not sure if it was Mirai or Caroline, but I was surprised.
