Ok people!!! Jorge and I were talking about this and think it's very wrong, and we would love to hear your opinons. From what we have heard thee has been a desicion to broadcast the Grand Prix Events only on the Ice Network. Which means a lot of people won't be able to see it. As I myself using Comcast don't even get it offered. What do you all think?

Ice Network is actually a website www.icenetwork.com - and for $29.99 a year you can watch the events on your computer - that is if you don't have a slow connection like I do. If you have a good connection, the nice thing is you can watch kinds of events we never got to see on TV ...ALL the competitors, regionals, sectionals...
I think it sucks..but there's nothing to be done about it.

I don't think it was a decision to broadcast only on Ice Network, so much as no network wanted to buy the Grand Prix events, other than Skate America- which was on regular television.
I wish a network would buy the broadcasting rights, but if they don't think they can sell the advertising time, I understand why they don't and I'm just grateful that ice network is there if I did want to see them!

All I can say then is that somebody better get SMART and let even webtv. people access it.

It brings me back to the olden days when we only get to see Nationals and Worlds on a Saturday afternoon on ABC Wide World of Sports :)
You know I don't think I'm missing the skating coverage that much at all. Sure if all the GP events were on ESPN I would watch/tape everyone of the them, but since they're not this year, it doesn't really affect me that much. You just make do with what's available.

Well, you could always move to Canada. ;) We're getting all the GP events on CBC - only 2 hours for each of the non-North American ones, but I'll take it.
There's a ton of footage online too, I just don't know if it's available for viewing outside of Canada. But if you want to give it a try:

i think that is wrong decision because not everybody have an broadband connection so you can not enjoy the broadcasting and i seen TV over the internet and is not the same because is more slow the moves flow and if the network is saturated sometimes will stop suddenly the transmission and you must clik on play again .
i hope that a TV networkbuy the rights and that figure skating return to be broadcasted on TV.

Dear Dana, I'm behind you! Even in my country, you can see it against payment of a licence fee.

Yeah........skating should be able to be accessed by EVERYONE!!! Not limited to curtain people or places or even sold like your buying extra cable from a cable company. BTW. for those of you who are Synchronized Skating Fans like me. There IS a Synchronized Skating Show broadcasted in NY. from a NY. Station that only broadcasts it IN NY. I think that too is wrong.

AND if you don't have an Apple instead of a PC

While I'm sorry that skating isn't on network TV this year, I've been happy with Ice Network's coverage.
Besides, as far as I know, there's nothing in the US Constitution that guarantees all citizens the "right" to watch skating for free. :)
Some things you just have to pay for. *shrug* It's annoying but it's life.
