I'm so annoyed at icenetwork.com.

First, they automatically renewed my subscription using last year's credit card for $29.99. That would have been okay with me, except that I received this email from the USFSA a few days ago.

With all the great figure skating available exclusively to icenetwork.com Season Pass subscribers, this is the one subscription that no figure skating fan or U.S. Figure Skating member should be without. As a special offer to U.S. Figure Skating members only, you may purchase a 2008-09 icenetwork.com Season Pass (valid until Sept. 30, 2009) through Nov. 15, 2008, for just $19.95 (regularly $29.95) by using promotional code USFSMEMBER (code is case sensitive) during the purchasing process (www.icenetwork.com (http://www.icenetwork.com/)).

To subscribe today and take advantage of this great discount offer, click the following link (http://web.icenetwork.com/subscribe/) (http://eblast.usfigureskating.org:81/CT00007301MTI5NDgA.HTML?D=2008-11-13) and follow the instructions provided. Once you have subscribed to the icenetwork.com Season Pass, sit back and enjoy all the 2008-09 skating action (subject to blackout restrictions). If you have already subscribed to the icenetwork.com Season Pass, thank you for purchasing the Season Pass, and enjoy the skating.

Yeah, thanks for being a sucker and not canceling the automatic renewal. We just scammed you for an extra ten bucks! I sent them a request to credit my account for $10. We'll see how that goes over.

To add insult to injury, I tried to sign on for the first time this season. I got the famous "blackout" message, even though I live in the USA. I just "resolved" my IP address on this site and it's obviously in NC. Grrr.

Another nastygram to send.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me and everyone I know. It's a scam for sure.

Let us know what happens with your request - if you get $10 back I will certainly also make the request.

Didn't you get the e-mail that the USFSA sent about a month ago to members, saying that they were going to automatically renew subscriptions for $29.95 and that USFSA members would get the same discount as last year? You could either get a check or send an e-mail agreeing to donate the $10 to the Memorial Fund.

I said I'd donate, but I did read on another board that some people got the form e-mail thanking them for their donation when they hadn't responded either way yet.

No, I didn't receive a message with that information. The automatic renewal notices said that the season pass was the same price as last year. Probably because I subscribed last year BEFORE they offered the discount through the skating clubs. I didn't expect the same thing to happen this year or I wouldn't have let the automatic renewal go through.

My "Thank you for renewing" email this year said "As a reminder, your subscription to the 2008-09 icenetwork.com Season Pass is being renewed at the same low price as last season -- only $29.95 for the entire season." Nothing about a check or a memorial fund contribution.

If it's not too much trouble, could you let me know the sender's email and the date of that message? A search for "memorial" brought up nothing in my inbox.

I'm more angry about being blocked from using the service. I know that plagued a lot of people last year, but I had no trouble with it. Towards the end of last season, some other error message came up, preventing me from watching. I spent about five or ten hours trying to resolve it with little assistance from MLB. I finally gave up.

If they don't clear the blackout in the next few days, I might just cancel my subscription.

Isk8NYC - Thank you so much for posting. I got a renewal notice from IceNetwork, closely followed by the USFS email about the discount, but no info on how to get it. Because I hadn't saved my billing info at IceNetwork, the renewal failed. I hadn't done anything about it yet, and did not receive the email you posted. That email solved my problem and I was just able to subscribe at the $19.99 price. I hope you and everyone else in the same boat are able to get that $10 back.

How come all the competitions are blacked out?! I'm getting the black-out message when I try to watch Skate America, which happened 4 weeks ago! These guys seriously need to get their act together.

If you call Icenetwork, they will resolve the blackout over the phone with you while you wait - took about 5 minutes for me.
