Pardon this question if some find it offensive but does Jamie Sale have a daughter? I'm a long time skating fan and I could swear when she first started skating with David they were profiled and it was mentioned that she was a "single mother & working at Cup of Joe."

The big olympics came and I never hear it mentioned. I'm even starting to wonder if I even heard it at all. I have tapes of most of the past shows and I could SWEAR this was broadcast. (I've got to hunt through my hundreds of old taps) There's no mention of it anywhere now. Does anyone know?

I saw David & Jamie on Kristie's show and their baby was so cute. I'm happy for them but I can't help but wonder am I crazy? Did I not hear what I thought I heard years ago. If the person I heard this about wasn't Jamie who was it??

You're thinking of another female Canadian pairs skater - Kristy-something (she married her partner (who was not the father of her child) and her last name is now Wirtz).

Jamie Sale only has 1 child - her son Jesse, with David P. :)

Thanks for the response. No, I'm afraid it's not her although the circumstances do seem to fit. This was definately more than 10 years ago. I've got to dig up those old tapes to satisfy my curiosity. The more I've read about Jamie it doesn't seem to fit. Oh, well maybe someone else with an elephant's memory can say they saw it too.

Maybe you're thinking of Naomi Lang? She was an elite ice dancer with partner Peter Tchernyshev, but had a daughter with another skater, Vladimir Besedin. At a skating show some time back, Mark Fitzgerald (her NJ coaching partner) proposed to her and I believe they're now married and the young girl llves with them.


I read "Thin Ice" last year, which was about the events leading up to the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and the ice dancing judging controversy. David was married before but the marriage ended quickly with no children.
The biography of Jamie Sale did say that she and David Pelletiere both had "day jobs" to pay the skating bills.

That makes a lot of sense. I think Patti Siegel (Jamie's mother) worked at a country club or similar.

Maybe---that's interesting. Otherwise it's would be a really bizarre situation. I really like Jamie & David. They give a lot of hope to other skaters out there who may not have risen to the top as quickly as people thought they should have.
