Who spotted Plushenko on Eurovision?

I thought I was seeing things! But no it really was Plushenko skating along to the Russian entry on Eurovision. Posted it here as if you arent' a skater then I doubt you'd have noticed since he wasnt' announced at all. In fact our Tel (Wogan) said 'oh it's Michael Flatley on skates'!

I noticed Edvin Marton (sp?) first, with the violin, then realised it was on ice and that was Plushenko! Hilarious!:D

He won! or at least the Russian song did. Plushenko took the mike to let people know that now he had another title - the Eurovision title!!!!! Terry Wogan still had no clue who he was!

I had read somewhere that Plushenko was alongside the Russian entry, and hoped he was actually skating, not singing.:D

Oh well, now I can pretend to be psychic by telling DD and DH that I think the Russian entry will win.;)

I knew he'd be there because my coach saw him in the semi finals. felt a bit sorry for him, skating on what, a 2cm rink (okay exaggerating a little).;)

I watched it with Wogan commentating, too, and I thought - he's talking about Michael Flatley so much, people will actually think that it's Michael Flatley on skates. Really, that will happen.:roll:

t'was good, anyway. I thought russia should win. It was definitely unique...

I read somewhere that Plushenko and Dima Bilan are very good friends, and Plushenko is also friends with Edvin Marton, so thats how.

I don't know if it is televised to you folks across the pond but who saw the eurovision song contest. the Russian entry had a plastic ice surface (and it was tiny!!) and Evgeni Plushenko skating in accompaniment to the musicians in stage

apologies - should have put 'spoiler' in the title but thought the whole point of Eurovision was that it went live to all the countries and hadnt' expected anyone else to be interested in what is not exactly a song contest these days - but an exercise in political voting and unintentionally hilarious songs. If you havent' watched it yet look out for the French and Spanish entries and ponder what sort of folk actually voted for them. I personally enjoyed the Azerbaijani entry but no-one could say it was a good 'song' - oh and I liked Latvias pirates - very Eurovision!

Husband based his tips for the top on which girls were prettiest and correctly predicted Greece and Ukraine to do well. Russia benefited from all the Eastern bloc votes - at least it was a reasonable song too.

Plushenko does skate but on a 2m circle can't do much! And no he doesnt' sing.

I thought Dima must be Plushenko's new boyfriend - after he moved on from Edvin via his (now ex?) wife;):D

I normally HATE Eurovision with a vengance, and don't watch it - but I caught a glimpse of him, and then had to watch till the end, just to see what he was doing there!

it's gossiped Plushenko will be marrying some friend of Dima Bilan's soon, something to do with Bilan's producer too. :mrgreen:
