I'd actually rather not share the rink with elite skaters, I would either be awestruck or terrified of getting mowed down.

I'll share my rink with any of them, just not my ice time! Too scary!

I love skating on the same ice as higher level skaters---makes me work my butt off! Anyone who's better than me, and who has really good technique & presentation, so I can watch & learn from them.

When my sister was in Basic 3 or 4, Ashley Wagner had her lessons on the other side of the rink. She found it incredibly distracting :)

You mean your sister took lessons in the same Rink as Ashley Wagner?

Yup, still does (just no longer at the same time)....and I take pilates there (but skate at Fairfax)! We live about 10 minutes from the rink. A lot of my friends go to school with her too lol.

Doesn't matter who I share the rink with. I'm not paying attention to them unless I'm about to run into them. Otherwise, I try to stay completely focused on my own skating. I save being star-struck for when I'm off the ice. It may sound too serious for some, but it's the truth. I've had to share the ice with high level skaters since I began taking lessons on freestyle sessions. I'm working on a double loop while everyone else around me is doing triples. My coach drilled it into my head early on that I am no different than they are and they were where I am at one point in their careers. Most of them are friendly and some of them admire the fact that I'm out there busting my tail (Literally) to get better. One pair of Junior level ice dancers asked me how long I've been skating and seemed shocked at my ability considering that it's only been 2 years.
