I'm thinking of getting myself a pair of these, bearing in mind I take a 11.5 UK size hockey skate which leave me with plenty of room

would a size 11.5 Wide UK be snug in figure skates?

I think you absolutely need to try skates on before you buy them.

Definitely don't try to gauge your size in figure skates judging by your hockey skates. Mine are a size and a half different. Also, hockey skates run much wider in general; I wear a D in both skates, but in my figure skates that's a custom width, and in hockey skates that's the narrowest most brands are made. (if your hockey skates leave you "plenty of room", they may be too big, which will only complicate things for you).

Find a reputable skate dealer (ask coaches/advanced skaters at your local rink where they go to be fitted) and have somebody figure out what brand, size, and width is right for your foot.
